Deeply Disappointed with Dr. Prashanth Tamragouri
I am writing to share my terrible experience with Dr. Prashanth Tamragouri. After reading other reviews, I am devastated but not surprised to learn that others have also suffered.I voluntarily checked into Hinsdale in November 2023 for my declining mental health. Dr. Tamragouri spent at most 20 minutes speaking to me over nine days. I among other patients dreaded having to speak to him due to his dismissiveness and lack of concern. He also tried to increase my medication without informing me and often discussed patient care plans in the hallways, showing no respect for HIPAA.Despite this minimal contact, he billed me for five sessions of 35-55 minutes each. This is not just unethical—it's fraudulent and shows a complete lack of respect for his patients. Dr. Tamragouri is either too incompetent for his workload. or greedy. Hopefully, he can reflect on his practice and do better. I wasn't going to write a review but after this bill and reading more about him I had to add to the list.

Less than one star!!!
My husband was treated at a memory care facility and Glen Oaks. Dr. Tamragouri did not return phone calls! ? He over medicated my husband with numerous drugs...and prescribed a drug known to cause tardive dyskenisia. He did not review my husband's medical history. Now my husband suffers with tardive in addition to Alzheimer's. If you check out a memory care facility...make sure he is not the psychiatrist you have treating your loved one. If he is... run away and find another.

No, no, no. My husband is in a memory care area of an assisted living residence. He has his own psychiatrist. I received a $295 invoice from Dr. Tamragouri for a 60 minute visit. I was not advised by Dr. Tamragouri or the staff that he had seen my husband. I had been told previously that the medication prescribed by his psychiatrist would not be altered or changed without authorization from the prescriber, so I am confused as to why he would have been called, and what was accomplished in the visit. Also, I sincerely doubt that this man would spend an hour with him without knowing any background information, and am not convinced that he actually met with my husband. I asked for an after visit summary and did not receive it. It feels like a money-grab, and potentially fraudulent. And I just received another invoice in the amount of $129.44 for a visit AFTER I advised the facility and his office that he was NOT to see him anymore.

Terrible bed side manners
Telehealth
In hospital program a week and saw him in total maybe 15 mins the entire time there. Each visit you were lucky to get 2 mins of his time. He never explained anything or showed any compassion for what you had to say. Cut me off and at one point said I’m not going to argue with you. Terrible and counter productive in a behavioral program as it made me more depressed and anxious

Helped tremendously
I have no complaints at all. I know I hospitalized longer than I felt that I required but in the long run it was good. I came home calm & full of hope & treated with the proper medication.

Never. ever. see. this. 'Doctor'.
I personally received 'care' by this human at Glen Oaks Hospital. DEPLORABLE. Never saw him in person. Would increase my meds daily without explanation. Never explained treatment plan. Never wanted to get to know my condition. I work in healthcare (which he didn't care to ask what I did) and reminded multiples times that HE IS A DOCTOR and very busy. I was told by ALL staff to NOT argue with him, he is known to keep patients for not being compliant even though I was going to all the STUPID group meetings. The amount of kindergarten projects I had to do to 'help' my mental health is extremely questionable. Glue sticks save lives? I have good insurance, i truly believe i was kept the max amount of time due to money and not patient progress. staff encouraged me to write a formal complaint for unfair treatment. THIS IS WHAT MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT CONSISTS OF?? I pray for his patients.

Unavailable ALL THE TIME, even when I was hospitalized at Glen Oaks. Deplorable treatment of me and my PoA.

Worst shrink ever!
This was the doctor of record for my dad - who was an inpatient at GlennOaks. Whether he saw my dad in-person even once is questionable - maybe a zoom visit over a seven day inpatient stay. I never received an update - via phone, text, zoom, in-person during the entire stay- this despite having the POA for my 97 year old father. Unfathomable. My father was discharged with no prescription meds despite the persistence of serious symptoms which were listed in his discharge report (thank god for that - the only communication on my dads condition). I cannot believe such terrible healthcare exists in this country for patients with health insurance, resources and advocates on their side. I shudder to imagine what other patients receive? Goodness forbid not having insurance or resources.

Unbelievably inept psychiatrist
This doctor is the worst psychiatrist my family has ever worked with over the past forty years. We requested a phone call several times to discuss our family member's condition and treatment plan while at Glen Oaks hospital and never received a response. After threatening legal action my family member was unceremoniously released the next day. The prescriptions upon release were not only called in to the wrong pharmacy, but the dosage was different than what was indicated on the release papers. Do NOT let a family member be admitted to this hospital for psychiatric care, as the patients are treated like cattle. No sensitivity to unique mental health needs, no response to family members, no indictation of progress -- you are literally dealing with a brick wall. The poorest excuse for a psychiatrist on this planet.
