Missed a Crohn’s Dx
Gave us a breath test for Sucrose and Lactose which came back negative and never investigated my daughter’s symptoms further. Classic Crohn’s symptoms he should have caught. Weight loss, nausea, pallor, joint pain, headaches, decreased appetite, anemic, loose stools. We had to go to VCU to be taken seriously. She was so sick by the time they could see her.

Dr. Selvakumar has been following my infant for several months. He gives clear explanations and directions. He's calm and reassuring. He works well with his nutritionist to provide care. We have had a relatively positive experience with him and his team/staff.

GRATEFUL!!!
This GI specialist saved my son. He is patient, kind, he listens to his patient and makes you feel a part of your child's care team. Dr. Selvakumar took his time diagnosing and monitoring medication to make sure my son became healthy and can thrive. In the two years we have been working with him, he has proven to be an angel in disguise, a professional, and a great pediatric specialist. He treats my son with the utmost respect and as a parent it is appreciated because he is the patient. Thank you so much for all you do, have done, and will do for my son to keep him healthy and thriving!!

Dr Kumar did a great job of reviewing my son's chart before our visit. Listened to my concerns. He explained his treatment plan and gave me the opportunity voice any questions or concerns. It was a great first visit.

Dr. Selvakumar was wonderful. He was thorough, reassuring, and smart. He did not rush us, but really listened before offering recommendations. It was scary to have our infant referred to a specialist, but we felt better after seeing Dr. Selvakumar.

Highly recommend!
Dr. Selvakumar is an excellent physician and I highly recommend him. He treated my 16yo daughter for chest pain, which turned out to be caused by reflux. We had multiple visits with him and he was always incredible. He is kind, compassionate, and has the absolute best bedside manner. He is a very good communicator and listens to his patients. The staff that work with him are also super nice and friendly. If you need a pediatric gastroenterologist, Dr. Selvakumar is the one you want.

Did not hesitate to tell us we were "overreacting". We were instructed to wean our infant off his reflux medications (resulted in a reflux-induced choking episode that nearly sent him to the ER- we now have to watch for pneumonia). Also instructed to start solid food, but he vomited the rice cereal we gave him, and it was brown when it came up.

Dr. Selvakumar spent a lot of time with us in office visits and on the phone. He was willing to change his plan of care to ensure that we were totally comfortable with it and that it was in our daughter's best interest. He is very patient and will explain things in detail! He is a great doctor, especially for us "anxious parents!" We would definitely recommend him!
