Horrible treatment
Since being moved to Dr Pate all that has happened is scheduled for several appointment and unneeded tests. I was with 2 other doctors for a total of 16 years with awesome care. However, since moving my health care to the VA, I had to see Dr Pate because he is the only doctor that accepts VA. My mom had saw Dr Pate previously and had a bad experience so I guess its not just me. Definately try other doctors first.

I was leary due to these reviews
I was very leary due to these reviews! But everyone in the office was great. Dr. Is straight forward. Which I like. Took me off of a very expensive drug. To one that is easier to manage. Ordered tests. Told me reason for tests. Basically said. Keep doing what your Doctors tell you and after tests we will make a plan. I liked him. He even remembered my Mother!

Arrogant and Uncaring
I began seeing Dr. Pate after I moved to MO from FL. I gave him my records from my previous doctor. He ordered a lung CT and a bronchoscopy, which resulted in benign biopsies. He ordered a PET to assess a mass in my lung. The PET showed activity in my lung, a lesion on my spine, and a spot in my jaw. He said I might have cancer. He biopsied the lesion on my spine, which was benign. I didn’t have the biopsy on my jaw. At this point, he informed me that he was moving to Texas and wanted to "wrap this up." He simply abandoned me. Both terrified and furious, I visited my doctor in FL for a second opinion. After reviewing Dr. Pate’s records, he found that the spots on my lungs had DECREASED in size. It turned out Dr. Pate never reviewed my records. Had he done so, he would have compared my two PETs. On his PET results, he wrote that I had no prior PET/CT exams. I would avoid this doctor as his arrogance for refusing to read another doctor’s records of a patient is heinous.

Wrong and arrogant
My grandmother has been in debilitating, severe pain for 6 months. After an emergency room stay, he misdiagnosed her without ever seeing her with COPD, then refused to see her for 6 weeks after her stay. We had to go to the ER for her severe pain several times after that. When her appt rolled around 6 weeks later, he tried to deny her because she had been back in the hospital! He didn’t do anything to help so she had to go to the hospital the pain was out of control! When they did finally agree to see her, he barely touched her and said he stood by his diagnosis and she had to get a breathing test, which they never scheduled. Finally my mother was able to schedule it. In the meantime, my grandmother had another severe pain episode, and my mother called and asked for help since they gave her no pain control options. Because she had a ‘tone’ (panic from watching her mother dying in pain and the Dr refusing to help will do that) with his staff, he fired my grandmother as a patient.

Half star earned maybe
Dr. Pate is the worse Dr. I have ever seen!! He is rude and condescending towards his patients, I seen him one time, and his first time meeting me greeting wasnt hello nice to meet you, but are you coughing up blood!! I was like wow really! And he would not let me tell him my history, before he waved his hands in the air and sent me on my way. Well Dr. Pate you are fired!! Period.

Wasn't rushed
At all my appointments I never feel rushed. He answered all of mine and my husband's questions. Never have a very long wait, but then I ask for the earliest appointment time. Ginger, the receptionist, is pleasant and always smiling.
