Shamed me
I went to see Dr. Gossum for a steroid injection in my knee since I was still having pain 4 months after surgery. He was so rude and shamed me for going to another Dr. to get my second surgery. That has absolutely nothing to do with him and how ridiculously rude that he would even bring that issue up. I was only there for an injection, not a consult. DEFINITELY AVOID.

Arrogant
Dr Gossum just got annoyed when I asked questions. All he wanted to talk about was the two types of surgery I could have for my shoulder arthritis. When I asked if there were any type of exercise I could do to relieve my discomfort, he said he didn’t know. When I asked what pain reliever he recommended, he did not respond. I got th the bums rush.

Saw Dr. Gossum for a torn ACL in early 2019. I did not receive instruction that seeking physical therapy BEFORE my surgery would have been beneficial in the long run. His advice on after-care drastically differed from what my physical therapist suggested (and she herself was recovering from a torn ACL and saw Dr. Marvel in Taos). The entire PT office was baffled that he didn't want to prescribe me a brace and start doing physical activities outside months into recovery. Bedside manner wasn't the best either. My quad has been consistently smaller than the non-surgery leg and that is one of his primary measurements of progress- but he wouldn't really listen when I said it was painfully difficult to do the exercises he suggested ("it's supposed to be hard"). Over a year of PT later and my ACL has a lot of crunching when I do squats so I think I need to get another MRI to see what's going on.

Dr Gossum refused an MRI after a perfunctory examination of my knee due to the fact that my Medicaid would not pay for it A Christus PA stated that there was no cartilage or tendon damage, impossible to see with an X-ray.
