I went to her years ago looking for a new gynecologist. When I met her I told her about my family history and that my grandmother had breast cancer in the 1960’s and that she had one breast removed , she told me “well she may not have had cancer -they may have misdiagnosed her because back then they didn’t really know as much as we know now”! Telling me this with braces on her teeth as a grown woman. It was so shocking that she said that I never went back. Terrible way to greet a new potential patient.

As a first-time pregnant and a foreigner, I initially found a doctor who seemed calm and spoke perfect English. However, red flags soon appeared. She doesn't care much about patients, failed to explain things, and pushed for expensive tests to make money. She recommended two costly genetic tests without explaining what they were or their cost. We later discovered we could have had these tests for free through the California screening program. She didn't inform us of this option, which was her duty. Appointments and tests were scheduled as quickly as possible, clearly to maximize her profit. Avoid early appointments before week 11 due to the high miscarriage risk. I had genetic tests when the embryo was already dead, which we didn’t realize due to poor timing. They pressured me into more expensive consultations and surgery, but I chose to wait for a natural miscarriage, which was less risky and free. Avoid her if you want a doctor who genuinely cares about patients and not money.

We were trying to transfer care at 26 weeks, and rather than be helpful, staff had attitude. Maria was one of the receptionists, when we told her that we were seeking to transfer all she said was “we need records before making an appointment” after giving me a long sigh as if I was a burden. She did not provide any me any information on where to send it or anything. I’ll be looking for a different doctor.

All the staff and the doctor Lopez were incredible, very polite, nice and professional.

Who loves going to the doctor? How about the OBGYN??!! Probably no one, but Dr. Lopez and her amazing staff make the experience so positive. Dr. Lopez is so kind. She is knowledgeable, thoughtful, professional, respectful, intentional, and inclusive. She always puts me at ease and makes me feel comfortable asking questions. She considers my experience and educates me where necessary. This doctor has been a trusted partner in my health journey. She is a gem, and her staff is fantastic.
