I had back surgery in 2013. He put a cage in my back and they had to do a transplant. He is THE BEST. Brandon is also AMAZING. I recommend these two 100%.

Disrespectful of patient's time
I had my 2nd appointment and I'm getting ready for ACDF surgery. Heard nothing but good about Dr Patel. My appointment was for 8:20 AM. I arrived at 8:10. I waited for 1-hour in the waiting room before being called to the exam room. After 20 minutes, a med asst came in and took vitals. At 10:00 a PA came in and asked me some questions and described the surgery. I learned that Dr Patel only does surgery at Raleigh General in Beckley. At 10:20... TWO HOURS AFTER MY APPOINTMENT TIME, I got up to leave. At the front desk I asked if the doc had some kind of emergency this morning and was told, "No. This is a typical day". I left without seeing the doctor. It is ridiculous for anyone to be kept waiting this long. They have NO respect for the patients time. The real deal killer for me with Dr Patel was Raleigh General Hospital. I had a not-so-great experience there and will NEVER go back.

He was good when I seen him years ago but his office staff sucks. They still do. I have referral to his office sitting on a desk somewhere and I've called about it since it's been over two weeks and I keep getting hung up on. So he gets a one star rating for not hiring better staff. It was like this back then too.

I've been a patient of Dr. Patel's for a couple years and am very satisfied with the care that I have received. I had spinal fusion surgery in February, and am pleased with the results. Both Dr. Patel, and Adam explained the surgical procedure step by step, and answered all my questions. I am still under Dr. Patel's care, and feel confident that he will be able to help me with a SI joint problem. I've heard people complain about the wait time, and I too have waited, but the wait is worth it, when you realize that he takes time to explain his course of action, as well as answer any questions. I know many people who have had Dr. Patel as a Dr. for spinal problems, and all are happy with their outcome. People must also remember that surgery and treatment are not a guarantee fix for the problem you may have. The ladies in the check out office are wonderful, and have helped me on numerous occasions.

I have very good insurance, but They insist that you give them a credit card along with insurance card. This is for his retainer and to charge the card what ever they decide his bill should be? He signed a contract with my insurance to provide his talent they in return would pay agreed price less my deductable. I walked out never seeing the Dr. Because I would not give up my card. Proof he's is not to be trusted!

Dr Patel has worked miracles for my neck pain. We tried conservative measures, but when that didn’t work, I had neck surgery. I am now completely out of pain and feel better than I have in years. He and his PA spend time with every patient to make sure all questions are answered. At times, this can cause the wait time to be lengthened, but I will gladly wait my turn to have exceptional treatment and attention.

I would not recomend this office to anyone. My sonwas to make a 1 week follow up . I have been trying for 1 month to get said follow up . I have gotten through 2 times. The first time I was told they would call me back with an appointment. Never called. This time as I am writing this I am on hold. Been on hold for 45 minutes and they just hung up on me. My son has been in back pain for 1 month with a fracture and no pain meds. What kind of a doctor would do this?

My husband has been a patient for over 6 months & in extreme pain with his lower back. Patels office staff is the worst I’ve ever encountered. They tell you they’re taking care of something & don’t. My husband went to the emergency room because patel had told us if he needs to go go to raleigh general. We did & wanted to be seen at his office that day to try to get insurance to approve & he said come back in 2 days. My husband can’t even walked. The whole staff treated him terribly
