The doctor walks in with a man named Sam and a laptop. This is you talk to Sam. He’s the one that looks at everything. The doctor just stands in the corner looking at two blank pieces of paper that I didn’t fill out because I registered online I get there. They don’t have my online papers. I asked the doctor things he looks at Sam, Sam says his comment the doctor didn’t look at any of my CAT scans. He didn’t even touch me and for an hour. Wait I got five minutes and didn’t clear anything up. He looked at nothing from the ER or doctors say make an appointment with Sam don’t bother with the doctor , horrible, horrible, horrible horrible bedside manner. Save your time and energy and go to the ER.

Gastro problems! Now?
Ever since my first colonoscopy, I notice that I have been having Gastro problems. My health care was not good at all during the years 2022-and not just with this doctor. Portage Indiana has poor healthcare. I can prove it. Ugh

Worst gastro ever!
I have been seeing him for a few years. Spends 5 minutes with you, doesn’t explain anything, doesn’t listen. No wonder you can get into him ASAP when it takes forever to see all the other gastros in the area. I finally found one yesterday that is starting me on a med for IBS that Dr. Kota never even mentioned and actually listens. It’s time for him to retire. DO NOT waste your time!!!

He doesn't listen, doesn't explain anything and just moves onto the next and expects the nurse to get asked all the questions he should have been answering.

Time is Money?
My initial appointment with Dr. Kota, before my Colonoscopy, lasted 2-3 minutes. On the day of my procedure, I did not see Dr. Kota before or after the procedure. The next day, I was immediately scheduled for a follow-up appointment. At the follow-up appointment, I paid another $50 co-pay, plus of course, my insurance company was again billed. All of that just to be told everything went well, and he'll see me in 5 years. Total time in his office,115 seconds. Now of course the news was well received but it seems to me, with that being the case, it could have just been a quick phone call, and I could have saved $50 and 2.5 hrs of missed work pay. At the end of the day, yes he got the job done, but the overall experience left me with the impression that Dr. Kota is primarily, if not strictly in this business for the money.

I’ve seen him a handful of times. Seems very rushed, doesn’t explain things and lacks a bedside manner. Maybe that’s why you can get in to see him so quickly when it takes weeks to get an appt. with any other gastro in the area. Seeking another opinion. But his staff is wonderful. Maybe they could teach him a thing or two.

He was cold and wrongly assumed a lot of things while I was there. He also barely wanted to spend time in the exam room, even when I was a new patient. I probably saw him for less than 10 minutes my initial "new patient" appointment. He also kept trying to get out of the exam room after a few minutes at each visit; I was still talking to him as he was walking out the door. Just a few minutes is all he wants to spend and then on to the next. Treatment was to take an OTC medicine and come back in 6 months. He just didn't seem to care. No thanks.

Dr. Kota was never in a hurry when he made his daily visits to see my mom when she was in the hospital for C-Diff infection. He offered encouragement each day, but it was his honest answers that I applaud. Because I am not knowledgeable in medical matters, I did not realize the seriousness of my mom's condition. Because Dr. Kota was willing to tell me it was time to call in the family, all of our family members were able to get to see Mom before she succumbed to the infection and died 2 days later. We are all gratefeul for his compassionate candor.

I have been going to Dr. Kota for a while now and I think that he is a very good doctor. I had a couple of issues that he was able to take care of. He is easy to talk to and explains things so you understand what's going on. His staff couldn't be nicer. He may seem kind of quiet and businesslike at first but I found him to be very caring. You will not be sorry if you chose him as your physician.

Dr. Kota is a very knowledgeable physician who diagnosed my recurrent nausea problem and quickly put me on the proper medicine to take care of it. He is very friendly and always listens to what you have to say. As a bonus, in addition to his expertise in medicine, he knows a great deal about current and world events.

I was very pleased with Dr.Kota. He explained the procedure and everything was exactly like he said. On my return visit the wait in the waiting room very short. I was actually seeing the dr. At my scheduled appointment time. Dr. Kota explained my test results, examined me and I was on my way home. I will be seeing him in three years.

Had 2 different appointments at 10am. He didn't walk into the office until 10:15-10:30. There's 3 other patients before me. Doctor's charge patients for being 15 minutes late. Why schedule patients then be consistently late?
