I am a Nurse Anesthetist, and my sister is an Internist. Our mother went to the ER the other night for high blood pressure and Dr. Pillitteri was our doctor. Although he gave her a respiratory treatment for her cold, he discharged her without treating her high blood pressure. Furthermore, he ran no tests to rule out a heart attack. When my sister questioned him about this, he spoke to her on the phone for a few minutes, then without warning, handed my phone back to me and walked out of the room, answering no additional questions of ours. HE WAS RUDE. As a daughter, of someone sick, I was scared. As a healthcare professional who cares for sick people every day, I WAS APPALLED. I am 100% confident that no training in medical or nursing school, says walk out of the patient's room while they (or their family member) are still talking to you, or asking you questions. APPALLING.

Rian Pillietteri is a horrible physician. My mother went into the ER tonight for high bp and sob. He basically wrote her off after giving her a breathing treatment, clonidine for the blood pressure and ibuprofen. He did not draw blood and only did a cxr after I insisted. I asked him to admit her for 24 hour observation and he refused saying it would be inappropriate. It is unfortunate for Bethesda West Hospital to have such a negligent ER physician as their first line defense of poor health. Please I beg you, if he is your physician in the ER request someone else. He will get you or your loved one killed.

This man almost killed my family member. He so wrongly diagnosed her in the ER. He took an x-ray (but NO other standard tests at all), said she was fine, and quickly dismissed her. She was taken back to the ER on Sunday and almost died had we not taken her due to complications he should have tested for the FIRST TIME. He completely disregarded her requests to run other tests based on symptoms she's NEVER experienced before and said that she would be fine. Totally irresponsible and dangerous.

From the moment her came into the ER room we were put into, his demeanor was that of someone that had better places to be. He did not listen to anything we said. Shrugged shoulders and made comments like, "I don't see anything wrong", "you're not going to die", and "well, what do you want me to do". We actually looked around for a camera, thinking we were being punk'd. Waste of time in even going to the ER.

I would have done no stars if it were an option. We had this doctor during a visit to the ER. He couldn't have been any less interested or less caring. I had him before with another family member where he was as bad as this but still nothing to write home about. Maybe he was having a bad day but do people a favor and stay home then....
