Neurosurgery with Dr. Komotar
In my professional experience working with many physicians, finding the right neurosurgeon for a close relative was a deeply personal and challenging task. After extensive research, one name stood out repeatedly—Dr. Komotar. His expertise in neurosurgery is not only widely recognized in South Florida but also across the nation and beyond.Facing the need for neurosurgery naturally brings anxiety, but Dr. Komotar’s confidence and reassurance provided immense comfort. His honesty, professionalism, exceptional bedside manner, and responsiveness to calls and emails were invaluable. Most importantly, everything he told us unfolded exactly as he said it would.Dr. Komotar is truly a rare gem. The world is lucky to have him. No matter where you are, I strongly recommend placing your trust in him if you ever need a neurosurgeon. My advice: listen closely to his recommendations. He is simply an incredible doctor and human.

He’s definitely worth the hype
After suffering in unbearable pain for over 3 years I was referred to Dr Komotar for Trigeminal neuralgia. My consultation was on a Friday, he had me scheduled for emergency surgery the following Tuesday. Although my fear of brain surgery kept me in pain for 3 years, in less than an hour he eased all my fears and convinced me it was for the best. My surgery was a success and I’ve been pain free for 2 years. His staff and residents were very thorough and professional. It was without a doubt the best medical decision I’ve ever made. #painfree

The BEST Ninja in So. Florida!
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. K and his team! I used to have a grade 2 okigodendroglioma that started to become malignant in my right frontal lobe. I spoke to him on a Monday afternoon and he was admitting me to UM Hospital 2 days later! My surgery and recovery went amazing.

If I could give negative stars I would
I don’t even know where to begin. Lack of communication and complete disregard to recovery after surgery. Don’t expect to see or hear from him after surgery even with severe complications in recovery… he could care less.

THE BEST THERE IS.
Shortly after being diagnosed with a meningioma, I found out I would be waiting six weeks to see a neurosurgeon in Dallas. I decided I wasn’t going to wait that long, and wanted to find a doctor on my own. I found Dr. Komotar on Instagram, and was able to see him in Miami in less than a week. I was under his care for the better part of a year, and could not have been more pleased. My experience at the University of Miami was excellent. My surgery was successful- a gross total resection of my tumor and a smooth recovery. Dr. Komotar and his team are UNMATCHED. I feel like I lost a tumor and gained a friend. In a world where doctors are unreachable, brain tumors are unpredictable, and surgery is overwhelming, Dr. Komotar seamlessly bridges the gaps and instills confidence and peace of mind every step of the way. If I had to go back and start all over again, the only thing I’d do differently is find him sooner.

Meningioma Surgery
Dr. Komotar and his team performed a successful and complete resection of my sister's 3.8 cm meningioma in July, 2022. The entire experience including scheduling, initial consultation, prep, the actual 4 hour surgery, recovery, and follow-up went smoothly and confidently. Time from referral to Dr. Komotar by a local neurosurgeon to surgery was 8 days. At the initial consultation Dr. Komotar instilled confidence in us that he would completely remove the tumor and made my sister feel very fortunate to be under his care. She was discharged the day after surgery and tolerated the 2 hour drive home very well. Her pre-op symptoms some of which she had for years were gone. Her PCP was surprised and pleased to receive a phone call from Dr. Komotar discussing the outcome of her surgery. Within 2 weeks she was able to perform normal activities including driving. Based on our experience we strongly recommend Dr. Komotar to anyone facing the prospect of brain surgery.

Don't get your hopes up or believe the hype. He doesn't give out his cell phone number to patients as some have claimed, he only gives it out to other physicians. He isn't the best neurosurgeon in the world and brain tumors are not curable. I remember going into this thinking- right in my backyard there was now hope for my family member's cancer. The videos he posts about curing people and using all of these groundbreaking techniques are extremely misleading. Neuroblastoma is not Glioblastoma and a 17 year old patient will live much much longer than a 50 year old brain tumor patient. He does not use tumorglow, gamma knife or stereotactic surgery, often. They are used for younger patients who have more more treatable cancers. I am a physician myself and when I asked why he had chosen not to utilize any of the "cutting-edge" magical techniques he advertises, he was eager to compare degrees and assert that he went to a better medical school, very professional. She died 2 mo. post surgery.

Dr Komotar was horrible. Within seconds he made it clear to my partner and I that he had no time for us and let it be known how frustrated he was that we were referred to him for the lesions on my brain. He was so bad we raised a formal complaint with UM.

WOW is all I can say. If there was ever a way to set a good example, Dr. Komotar should lead that challenge. He is the most amazing doctor that I have ever dealt with. My father had been suffering from trigeminal neuralgia for over 10 years and every doctor that he saw told him that he needed to learn to live with the pain and just increased the medication. Dr. Komotar spoke with my father, asked questions and immediately knew how to proceed. A week later my father was in surgery and two weeks post surgery my dad's pain is gone. Dr. Komotar and his team are top notch, knowledgeable, caring, kind, communicative, the list goes on and on. There are not enough words to express my appreciation for this team. May they never change how they treat their patients and their families as this is a gift that many don't have. Thank you, thank you, Dr. Komotar, you have no idea what in impact you have had on my father and our entire family. You are one of a kind.

I have to share that in this world where kindness and generosity is nowhere to be found ,Dr Ricardo J.Komotar is a miracle ,not only for his amazing talent ,but for his heart and soul .The world is a better place because this man .I am a mother that was in despair with my Son Charlie that had a violent seizure and was diagnosed with a brain tumor on the brain frontal lobe ...His neurologist Dr David Sachs right at his office contacted Dr Komotar texting the MRI images through his phone .40 minutes later My son received a call from dr Komotar saying that he had to go immediately to the hospital because the tumor was a time bomb .Miracles do happen and this man a symbol of ethics and compassion is an asset to the world and an example of what a Dr should be .With all his accolades and accomplishments Dr Komotar is an angel on earth .God bless you today and always ,saving lives that without you had no Hope .Eternally grateful Mara P Pereira

Dr. Komotar and his team are navy seal in military terms per my husband, a vet who had craniotomy for metastatic turmor removal this Tuesday, 9/15/20. They genuinely care about you and provide the utmost professional care. My husband was discharged the same day and he walked our dogs with kids and even went to Publix for chocolate cake. We are eternally grateful for his remarkable recovery. Dr. Komotar will treat you like a family and help you feel in peace from the first moment you talk to him during the most challenging time. He is truly a guiding light and beacon in darkness. We are so blessed to have him in south Florida. We would have travelled across the world to be in his care.
