Terrible experience.
I was present for my partner's appointment. The doctor merely chatted the entire time, performed not even the most perfunctory of exams. My partner and I were stunned by reading the exam note in My Chart later. Dobyns wrote things that did align with our experience during that appointment. My partner made a comment about a medication that he had been prescribed that did nothing for him so he wasn't using it. This was somehow construed into 'suspecting the patient was medication shopping'. My partner was doing no such thing. As I was present and am also a certified medical coder, I can say neither what he performed nor what he documented supported what he billed. One more appointment and my partner switched primary care doctors. But what Dobyns wrote in his chart, erroneously, I have no doubt affected how my partner was perceived and treated by subsequent providers. An appalling experience.

No words...
I thought the visit went well. I have access to my records on MyChart and was horrified at the things he said. Very judgmental about mental health, yet encouraging me to increase my use of benzodiazepines. My apt was not even about mental health - but he likely saw that I see a therapist in past records and came to his own conclusion before even walking into the door. When asked to refill my clonazepam months later, he wrote a note stating he won't refill and thinks I have a "problem." Could not afford multiple follow-up apt within 1 month with $45 copay each time, but documents he is skeptical and I have enough money because "I have insurance." I am in a profession that I travel, and states in record that he believes I am unfit and unstable to navigate extensive travel. There really are no words to describe how shocked I was by his behavior. Shame on him.

Dr. Dobyns was simply the rudest and most unkind, unprofessional physician I have ever encountered. He used language that was total inappropriate and accused me of behaviors that were simply not true. My spouse and I should have walked out on him. We wondered if he was in the early stages of some mental difficulties which caused his behavior. Obviously we both dropped him as our primary care provider and moved on. He should be evaluated by his supervisors and forced into retirement. It's time.

Dr. Dobyns is simply the best doctor I have ever had or heard of. He has a combination of expertise, wit, and kindness that is exceptional. When my mother was dying, he spent considerable time on the phone with me telling me what to expect. This was all gratis. When other family members have had issues, he does not hesitate to provide expert input. One of the kindest people I have ever met. And he has addressed any medical issues I have had with expertise and wit. Ten Stars if I could.

Dr. Dobyns is research orientated, compassionate, and painstakingly through. He always follows up on serious issues, and he really seems to care about the practice of medicine and his patients. These are rare gifts! To add to it all, he is witty and always seems to be in a good mood. This is especially helpful because physicals and various tests are not fun. His personality helps alleviate the discomfort and awkwardness of being a patient.
