Bunionectomy which necessitated correction
Pre-pandemic, I went to Dr. Richard Laughlin (University of Cincinnati Westchester) for a right foot bunionectomy. Post-op, upon inquiry, Dr Laughlin and/or an intern had performed long toe shortening in addition to bunionectomy. That long toe is now fixed and unable to flex. Adjacent toes have nerve damage. Additional surgery was required to re-position large toe.I requested medical records. Laughlin/UC advised I would have to go beyond a written request. After a move, I found another orthopedist who performed an additional bunionectomy.

Stay Away. Doctor Does not Listen.
I went in with nearly 3 years of Achilies pain after an injury I sustained from running. I have not been able to do most physical activity and spent months in a boot and crutches. I had already gone through months of physical therapy, hoping that would fix the issue, and it did not ultimately help. I went to see Dr. Laughlin with MRI images I already had from an outpatient imaging center and a report from that radiologist that said I had a tear in my Achillies. He did not even look at the report or images even after I asked him to several times. One of the first things he said was 'What do you want to do?' What doctor asks that question? That's the whole reason you go to see them - for diagnosis and treatment. He simply told me that I'm getting old and tendons degenerate with age (I'm only 34 and in great shape), and wrote me a prescription for more physical therapy. Did not listen at all, his entire demeanor was as if I was wasting his time. One of the worst doctor visits I've had.

Ankle re-works
I was in a horrible wreck last summer. A year later we're on another round of surgeries to fix essentially bad healing from the initial repairs. Dr. Laughlin has been fabulous throughout: patient, kind, understanding...he never makes me feel (unlike some doctors) that questions are a bother. He made sure we understood all of the options before we made a joint decision.
