I am an Ophthalmologist -- an eye surgeon. I requested Richard J. Mackool to do my cataract operation. In this world we hopefully have choices. I selected the most talented surgeon! In addition, he is a compassionate and kind human being to go along with his gift of restoring sight. My pre operative evaluation with his team was very thorough. He then listened to my concerns (especially since I too do cataract surgery) and gave me confidence that I had chosen wisely.

I handed the Dr recent test Dr said he would have to take his own readings which took 3 hrs and was very uncomfortable for my wheel chaired handicapped almost 80 year old husband. Then inform my husband he couldn’t do the surgery because he doesn’t have a Hoya Lyft. Now he wants to charge me ,60 a page to return my husband’s chart.

I really can’t say enough good things about Dr. Mackool Sr. Faced with a complicated cataract surgery, he took my concerns incredibly seriously and his experience with even the most complex procedures put me at ease. Along with being skillful, he was also incredibly kind and reassuring to this very nervous patient. Best news of all- my vision went from 20/200 to 20/30. I will always be grateful to the MacKool Eye Institute.

I recently had cataract surgery with Dr. R. Mackool . I was so delighted with the entirely seamless process, from my initial appointment, to the exams with the techs, to my consultation with Dr, Mackool. Everything was explainded with accompanying written info as to what to expect and do. The supporative staff was always available to talk or return calls. Dr. Richard Mackool is the Best! The most skillful cataract surgeon and kindest most understanding doctor you will ever meet. I had been suffering after cataract surgery performed by a different doctor. I was seeing large six foot concentric circles at every crosswalk, traffic light, street lights and car lights. I couldn't go out at night. Dr. Mackool immediately assured me he would fix my problem. He replaced the lenses. Now the circles are gone and my vision is the best it's ever been.

I had cataract surgery yesterday, 9/6/17. I had a 7:00 A.M. appointment and was taken immediately. The staff at Dr. Mackool's office couldn't have been nicer. They were attentive, knowledgeable and extremely courteous. Dr. Mackool saw me before surgery to check me out. Surgery went very well and was very quick.I was home is less than 3 hours. No pain, no redness. Before I left, everything I needed to do at home was explained to me. Dr. Mackool runs a very efficient, immaculate office.

l never thought I would ever see anything or anyone as good as I see now. As a child I wore thick glasses and had to always sit up front in class. Contacts made life easier but Dr Richard James Mackool, my brilliant, compassionate surgeon, changed my life. He performed a miracle. I am most grateful that his expertise, in my complicated surgery, was successful. My sincere thanks to Dr Mackool for saving my sight

Superb cataract surgeon. As an ophthalmologist I send all my cataract patients to him for surgery. Even had my own cataracts removed by him with excellent results.
