I had surgery by a colorectal surgeon in Boise and needed to have it done again which was done but couldn't seem to get any follow up so needed to get a second opinion and Dr. Martin was recommended to me. I went to him to see if my surgery was healing. It was and he said if I had any more problems to come back. Which I did on this visit. The last surgery looked okay but I now had more issues which should have been taken care of in the last surgery. Dr. Martin was so very kind and thoughtful in explaining this to me and he told me he could do the surgery now or wait until I couldn't handle the problem any more. I said I would wait because I had already had 2 surgeries in the last 4 months. I would definitely recommend Dr. Martin.

I appreciate that DR . Martin explained in detail the options for the hernia repair. It turned out that laparoscopic was the best option for me. My 1st hernia was over 20 years ago and it was and open procedure. This turned out really well for me. There was very little pain and a quick recovery.

I had small lump in the groin area that turned out to be a hernia. Dr. Martin used a scope and mesh to correct the problem without opening me up to major surgery. I checked in @ 6:30AM and was out by 10:30AM. He has a great team that he works with and post op was also very good. A great bunch of people all around.

Twelve days ago, I had laparoscopic surgery to repair my hernia. Dr. Martin was the doctor. Prior to the surgery, he took the time to explain in terms I could understand what the problem was and how he was going to repair the hernia. He has a very calming demeanor and when he finished the discussion, I felt very confident that he was the right doctor to do the job. On the day of surgery, he came into pre-op to visit with me and re-assure that everything would be alright. After surgery, he came into post-op to let me know that everything went well. Later that day, I was home and walking upright. I have had hernia surgery years ago and it took quite a few days before I could stand up straight. Since my surgery, I have had very little discomfort and have to remember not to do to many things that involve heavy lifting as I feel good enough to do so. I would highly recommend Dr. Richard Martin to my family members, friends or anyone else. He is a doctor who really seems to care.

My hernia repair experience with Dr. Martin was exceptional. He calmly and clearly explained every detail of the procedure. He has a very caring and kind demeanor. Just before surgery he checked in with me and before leaving said “we will take good care of you.” I found this very comforting.

Fantastic experience! Actually saw him for consult on August 13, 2020 and was set up for surgery (Incisional Hernia Repair) within 15 days. Not only was the surgery a complete success, every appointment I had with him he was always right on time. Very pleasant and professional in his actions and demeanor. Also quite humble, I don't see where he sewed in his initials on my abdomen! Christee (assistant) was most helpful and enjoyable as well! Highly recommend!

What started with a random chance of getting an amazing surgeon specializing in hernia repair with several past failures, continued with amazing follow up treatments, best bedside manner and caring, comforting, and educating follow up visits to help keep my peace of mind during a very turbulent recovery. I can't recommend a better surgeon than Dr. Martin! At least for this type of surgery.

A while back I had emergency surgery by Dr. Martin. I was so impressed! Even though it was the middle of the night, he took the time to explain everything to me and my family in a way that we could all understand. He answered all of our questions and treated us with dignity and respect. We all felt so comfortable with him as my surgeon and everything went great. Afterwards, office visits were wonderful. Everyone from the reception staff to his nurse Christie were fabulous. Highly recommend!

BEST HERNIA SURGEON! I had 2 large hernias for years but afraid to get them fixed as my friends who had hernia surgery missed work and had pain for weeks. My Dr. referred me to Dr. Martin who repaired both at the same time laparoscopically. Surgery on Friday, back to work Tuesday. I had almost no pain. Only took 2pain pills. My friends were amazed and jealous. He explained everything in a way I could understand and answered all my questions. His staff was friendly and helpful especially Christee

Dr Martin did both a gall bladder removal and double hernia repair on me all within a month of each other (laborescopic). I can’t say enough good about him taking the time to explain what was going to happen what to expect and his skill as a surgeon my recovery was much better than I ever expected.

Dr. Martin was both warm and professional for my surgery of December 2017. Information up front informing me about the surgery and results was more than adequate. Post surgery in both the hospital and outpatient office, I found his care was complete: adequate time was devoted to my daily attending as well as directing the hospital staff. I've observed him with other patients and note the same concern and knowledge given them. I highly recommend Dr. Martin. Sincerely, C. Bunch, Ph.D., Nampa

Doctor Martin was extremely personable and easy to talk to. He made the process of my surgery very easily understood and I was quite comfortable going into the surgery. The results of my hernia surgeries were excellent, both sides done laparoscopic. I cannot say enough about West Valley Hospital in Caldwell. This was my first time there for medical treatment. I was very impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. An all around great experience.

I recently had Dr. Martin perform a double hernia repair. I found him to be understanding and professional. The office staff was great and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone that needs the same type of surgery. His approach to the surgery (laparoscopic) saves $$, recovery time and minimizes the pain and discomfort as we were able to repair both sides at the same time.
