Horrible Experience
The procedure experience was horrible and not at all helpful. The colonoscopy, in particular, was unprofessional. The probe broke off in my body and I was beginning to vomit during the procedure (the anesthetist had to return to the room and was concerned that I might choke while unconscious). Dr. Sears also expressed his opinion that the medication that I am currently prescribed isn't necessary and that the medication is needed.

My otherwise healthy and vibrant 80 year old mother was referred to him for a colonoscopy as she has been experiencing terrible pain, diarrhea and intermittent constipation. Thankfully the colonoscopy showed no signs of cancer. However, at the follow up visit Dr. Sears was completely dismissive and rude to her. He spent approximately five minutes with her and refused to answer her questions or provide any helpful advice as to how she can get some relief from the pain she’s been experiencing for several years. She left defeated and in tears. His arrogant attitude and lack of compassion is truly astounding. In the few minutes he did speak with my mother he told her she should stop taking her cholesterol medicine because he doesn’t believe women should take cholesterol medicine, unless they have had a heart attack. This is the most sexist, insulting and degrading medical advice I heave ever heard. We will be seeking help elsewhere. He seemed bitter, angry and just plain mean.

Sears did not show me any pictures of endoscopy, said he found nothing different. Had Dr Gardiner 5 years ago who was wonderful, showed me pictured of my endoscopy, explained to me and my sister my problem! Wonderful bedside manner and extremely wonderful in explaining my problems! I gave Gardiner 5 stars and more if it were possible. Dr. Sears 1 star and will never go to see him ever again. My throat is sore, I am still choking! I never had this problem with Gardiner! I need to find a good doctor ASAP!

The reason I left three stars is because I only saw him for a total of 5 minutes before the procedure and 5 minutes after. Never met him prior to my colonoscopy. I really would like to meet a doctor before any procedure, but I was told that is not how he operates. I would suggest to scheduling some days of the week, just so you can meet your patients. I moved here from Florida and my doctor there, Dr Kanner, was very personable. He spent time with his patients. In my opinion this is the difference between a great doctor and one that just gets three stars. Nickie in Winchester

I do not recommend anyone seeing Dr. Sears if they have a problem that does not match a textbook definition. Dr. Sears told me that all of my problems stem from eating a high fat diet and I need to be a vegetarian and avoid dairy at all cost. He wrote me off as a know nothing 20 year old who does not eat right, never asked me about my dietary habits or previous medical history. Dr. Sears pushes his own personal non-medical based beliefs and will not listen to the patient.
