Completely missed ovarian torsion
I came into the emergency room in severe debilitating pain in my lower right side of my stomach… A variety of ultrasounds were performed, and Dr. Wilcox’s findings were that my right ovary was large and there was a cyst, but he saw no signs of torsion or any areas of concern & I was sent away from the hospital with no help. The following day I had another doctor at a different hospital see me and they performed exploratory surgery because they were seriously concerned about the amount of pain I was in only to find the cyst on my ovary (that had been dismissed as less than concerning the day before by Dr. Wilcox) had an extreme torsion in it, was turning purple, and was bleeding into my stomach. It sounds like it could have possibly killed me if left undiagnosed any longer. I don’t know if Dr. Wilcox was informed of the pain I came in with or if he strictly diagnosed based on what he saw, but I am highly disappointed and fearful for future patients with a similar situation.

Dr. Wilcox did my bone biopsy today and he IS WONDERFUL!! I was anxious and scared but all went very well with no discomfort, other than lying on my stomach on the uncomfortable CT scanner bed.
