Dr. Rita Melkonian, MD

Do not go to this woman. I wish her no harm, but I really don't want anyone else to have this same experience. I got to the Dr. to receive care and stay healthy and this was the opposite. She was absolutely unprofessional, argumentative and condescending. She didn't agree with the treatment I was on for menopause and instead of providing me with alternatives which I asked for repeatedly, she accused me of podcast doctoring and got irate when I asked what her training was in menopause. Probably because she doesn't have any. She kicked me out which was honestly a relief. She was mad I didn't bring copies of my tests with me - I had to remind her that she has access to all of them on the computer, which there weren't many of in the office. Also the office is really dirty, I almost left before I even met her because of this reason alone. Please find a doctor who cares for you and knows how to express concern productively.

I have had a lot of bad experiences with gynecologists where I have felt judged, unheard, and belittled, but my experience with Dr. M might have been the worst yet. She barely listened to my experience or concerns that had brought me to the appointment, and when she did ask questions she interrupted me without letting me answer. I felt very uncomfortable during the appointment and left feeling incredibly unsettled, judged, and defeated. Especially in regard to vulnerable matters such as sexual health, it is essential to feel safe in the presence of and understood by your doctor. This was the opposite of my experience.

Not up to date on how to deal with patients who have sexual trauma or other types of body trauma. Was told to “let it go, it’s in the past” - as if I hadn’t thought of that and my therapist is just there for show. Left feeling rather violated overall.

I have been a patient of Dr. Melkonian for 15 years. She goes overboard and checks everything that you didn't know you needed. Dr. Melkonian is a very warm and caring doctor and she has helped me on many occasions when I had to see her without an appointment. I am very grateful to be her patient.

Perhaps she treats her long time patients differently, but I felt extremely uncomfortable with Dr. Melkonian. She was cold and downright rude.

Dr. Rita Melkonian has been my Ob/Gyn for over fifteen years and I trust her, implicity. She has my best interest and well being. Dr. M. pulled me through two breast cancers, and one uterine cancer. By catching it early, I am cured! Dr. M. always explains a condition thoroughly and makes me feel comfortable in her elegant office. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for my appointments. Her staff is curtious and pleasant to me and others. I have always been able to get an appointment when I needed to see her. I would highly recommend Dr. Melkonian to any woman, young or elderly to experience a compassionate, caring, great doctor firsthand. Thank you.

Awful experience. Long story short, after leaving her office in tears I decided to get a second opinion. Turns out Dr. Melkonian was wrong. I wish I had never stepped foot in her office. Aside from being wrong, she was cold and had terrible bedside manner.

Dr. Melkonian is an expert in her field. She is excellent at listening, advising, and diagnosing. She is also a respected and excellent surgeon. I feel fortunate to be a patient of hers for many years.

Dr. Melkonian is rare in this day of automated health care. She listens and advises and cares about her patients. I am lucky to be one of them.

Dr. Melkonian is truly a doctor's doctor. She is thorough, empathetic, abreast of all new medications & procedures. She takes time to answer, in fact encourages, one's questions & patiently gives explanations making certain she has responded completely. Dr. Melkonian is very supportive of one's health care wishes & refers you to fine specialists if she feel you would profit from additional treatment. Her staff is as congenial as she is & very accommodating. A very happy patient of 30 yrs!

Kind, patient, sweet and an Excellent listener.. very thorough .. dr Melkonian spends a full hour with me when I go in for my annual exam .. we talk about anything and everything . I would not go to anyone else ...
