Horrible doctor
Went into Argyle emergency for a stitch. Came back with Nerve inflammation since he incorrectly used syringe and hit my nerve. I will recommend him ever to anyone. You go at your own risk!

Saved my life
Has significant internal bleeding, was close to dying became un responsive, and hypotensive. He kept me alive for 65 minutes in ICU battling my declining condition. I was on emergant blood transfusion, and lungs where surrounded by blood could hardly breath. He kept me alive long enough to make it into surgery found the problem and was able to save my spleen. Had a grade 5 splenic laceration. Rarely do people get to keep their spleen after such injury. Wish I could tell him and the team that was with him THANK YOU! Keep doing great work, y'all are amazing individuals.

Disrespectful and condescending
Doctor downplayed my pain, minimized my injury by calling it a scratch, talked to me like I was incompetent or a child, and then didn't even warn me that he was going to inflict pain on my injury by squeezing it, didn't explain anything to me and left. Dr. doesn't believe in treating patients like humans if the tests don't show that you're dying. He's acting like my insurance won't pay him with the way he conducted himself. Very rude, unprofessional, brutal, and insensitive.

Dr Bontreger's Problem – Jul 29, 2022

I was hit by a drunk driver and taken to Medical City Lewisville as I was very distraught and needed something to calm me down. I did not believe I had any physical injuries. This physician falsified his documentation because he did not examine me as documented. He wrote that I “refused” any radiology but I wasn’t even offered any x-rays. I don’t take any medications but I am a mental health professional who works in an emergency room. I didn’t ask for a prescription of any quantity of any benzos. I simply asked for a Xanax or a lorazepam to calm me down in that moment as I’m not prescribed these medications. He flat out said no and walked out of the room. He never touched me and never examined me and yet he documented that he did. The nurse who was very compassionate saw the state I was in and assisted in my care. If I’m ever in the ER again I will refuse to be seen by this man. He needs to check his biases at the door. Not everyone is drug seeking nor abusing medication.

I went into Medical City ER in Lewisville at midnight after a hockey collision that dislocated my lower jaw on the left side. Dr Bontreger scheduled a catscan to ensure no fracture . He then re-inserted my jaw into position quickly without much pain (and without sedation as I requested). I felt 100% better immediately after.

The worst experience ever with an ER doctor. I have a medically fragile daughter and he was rude and completely worthless..never even physically examined her. The rest of the staff was outstanding.

I suffered a small bowel obstruction with the obvious presenting symptoms of active vomiting and excruciating abdominal pain. Dr. Bontreger and the radiologist both said the CT scan "could not rule out" a small bowel obstruction and since I didn't have anything "life threatening," I was to be discharged and follow up with my PCP the next morning. My primary physician AND another radiologist both confirmed I had a small bowel obstruction. I was admitted to a different hospital the next day

Visited him at the Lewisville ER. He was courteous but not friendly. Acted like my fiancé was complaining of his back pain like it was no big deal and we were just there for drugs. He leaves then about 5 minutes later this lady comes in and tells us that he ordered a cat scan. The dr didn't mention it to us at all! They just came in and took him away from me. Not cool.
