Incompetence at Its Finest
I had a terrible experience with this practice. A few years ago, I was scheduled for a capsule endoscopy with Dr. Fan. To prepare for the procedure, I had to follow a strict diet and take medications, similar to preparing for a colonoscopy. I also took a day off work.On the morning of the procedure, I arrived at the office as scheduled, only to be told that they had lent out the necessary equipment to another medical facility. As a result, my appointment was canceled. It was incredibly frustrating and inconvenient to go through all the preparation and lose a day of work for nothing. This experience demonstrates a complete lack of professionalism and organization.

I had procedure done March 21, many biopsies were taken. It's been over a month and I still haven't heard results, left 5 messages with office, never have heard a word back. I will NEVER use this "Doctor" again!

Unprofessional
The front staff are getting paid to do nothing. I don't see how this office is still running. This isn't a professional setting. They never answer the phone nor communicate professionally. The doctor should really be disappointed in how his office is being run. Losing money because I just got a referral and now I'm switching to a real doctor!

The visits with Dr. Fan was full of adventures. My first appointment was rescheduled without notice. I showed up for nothing. My re-scheduled appointment was behind schedule for 1.5 hours. The consultation was rushed. I was scheduled to have a colonoscopy done in 2 weeks and a CT scan for my gall bladder. There was no follow up on my CT scan, still not scheduled. As for the Colonoscopy, I went to the hospital (Simi Valley Hospital) 5 days before the scheduled procedure to get COVID testing done as required by the hospital. When I got to the hospital, the hospital said they had never gotten the schedule from West G. I wasted another trip, called West G. to re-schedule. Then West G. attempted to cancel my colonoscopy the day of which I refused after having prepared and cleansed my system. The relented and was lucky the hospital could do it on the same day. Worst medical practice I have ever experienced.

For the second time I had an appointment with Dr. Fan and he was a "no show." The office didn't even have the decency to contact so I show up only to be told to schedule another appointment.

The only reason I'm not giving the 5th star is that there is room for improvement when it comes to Dr. Fan's bedside manner. More importantly, I found him to be a competent, well qualified doctor, who acknowledged my fear and put me at ease on the day of my procedure. I've just had my second colonoscopy with him, which was not as comfortable as the first. I have a list of questions for Dr. Fan about that, so perhaps this review will have a part 2, pending his explanation.

I found his staff to be extremely rude. I asked if I could speak to the Dr or have him return a call regarding an upcoming procedure. They said he doesn’t do phone consultations, Andre I would have to come in to see him. And then she hung up on me.

I am a 37 year old male athlete. When I met Dr. Fan he came into the room and started speaking to me instantly. He did not shake my hand, introduce himself, and appeared to careless about what I had to say. Dr. Fan performed both a colonoscopy and endoscopy on myself which came back normal from both procedures. Dr. Fan then dismissed all of the my other G.I. issues and told me good luck. He did not offer any other information, any type of plan about what I should do next, or where to go.

The office is an assembly line...get 'em get 'em out...I have a medical condition was sent there for a colonoscopy. The doctor didn't even examine me, nor ask me any questions about my condition. Just stated "staff will be in to give you the prep directions. 2 days before my colonoscopy, I call to ask what time do I need to arrive, they state, they don't have the schedule yet? Great...do I do the wonderful prep? Pray all is normal, if not, you may never hear your results. : (

Not a good experience at West Gastro. Staff is rude and a patient has to be diligent in ensuring the staff follow ups in apts, etc. my appoint was with Dr Fan. I brought in my medical history which he completely ignored. He gave me another endoscopy where he missed prior diagnosis. When asked what are next steps regarding GERD and hiatal hernia, he informed to "just live with it"... Would not recommend seeing him or anyone at the office.
