Dr. Robert Kostoroski, DO

Horrible experience at Mount Sinai with Dr. Robert Kostoroski. He is extremely rude, unprofessional and does not care about his patients or their families. My father is in hospice at Mount Sinai and was assigned this “doctor”. I use that term “doctor” loosely as he is anything but. He was very sarcastic, belittling, condescending and just plain rude when we tried to ask him any questions regarding my father’s condition and plans for future care. Instead of being supportive during this incredibly difficult time, he mocked and ridiculed us. Wish I could give zero stars. Mount Sinai needs to do better.

He is EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. Stay away. He does nor show up to see patients and when he eventually does he is disrespectful and horrific bedside manner.

My mother was a patient at Mount Sinai Medical Center Hospital. He was insulting and disrespectful towards me. I was telling him how my mother slid down in the hospital bed, and I like to put a note to remind the nurses and staff. To move her back up to keep my mother from Aspirating. Dr Kostoroski said with a smile, "WHAT YOU LIKE US TO LOOK AT HER IN BED FOR 24 hours. I reported him to the hospital Risk Management. I didn’t see him anymore because I was not able to come to the hospital anymore, but other family members did. Dr. Kostoroski did not put to the Pharmacy my mother's medications and I was told next day he did it but the pharmacy never received any new prescriptions from Dr Kostoroski so the floor Secretary give me the doctor phone number it was a Answering service I was told he will get back to me but never did. My mother have to wait over a week and days to she see her primary care doctor.

Dr. Kostoroski refused to honor the wishes of his patient with dementia, refused to speak to the patient's Health Care Surrogate for 5 consecutive days (even after Hospital Patient Relations got involved), did not allow nursing staff to speak with the health care surrogate except to convey that he would only discharge the patient to the nursing home of his choice without consideration of the patient's preferences as he was the doctor. After patient was admitted to hospice, Dr. Kostoroski refused to discharge the patient at all saying he 'might' do it the following day. So scary!

I feel sorry for anyone relying on Dr. Kostoroski. He is the doctor overseeing my fathers care at Mt. Sinai. He never visited and took 3 days to return my calls. Once he responded he told me it wasn’t his job to question the recommendations of his specialists nor to consider why conflicting information and/or treatment plans were being provided.

Wonderful bedside manner- and wonderfully evaluating and addressing both immediate/acute and long term care. Takes his time to explain all.
