Dr. Loiben ultimately didn’t help my illness
I saw Dr. Loiben for various mental health concerns, but I found that ultimately his techniques in treating me did not help my mental illness. I don’t recommend this doctor to others.

Saw Dr. Loiben for roughly 8-9 years
I’ve overcome severe mental health problems and Dr. Loiben saved my life, literally, and he also is the catalyst to me fully recovering from a disorder that stole 15-20 years of my life. I take 4 psych meds that Dr. Loiben prescribed me and all 4 are critical to my recovery. Not only do I function at a high level, I can now do what I want when I want like I always dreamed of when I was suffering for the above time period. In my experience, Dr. Loiben is compassionate, very professional and cares deeply for the well being of his patients. He is extremely adept at identifying when one needs medication and also when a patient needs more medication. If he isn’t the best fit for you, that’s okay, but I recommend Dr. Loiben to anybody and everybody who is suffering from mental health issues.

I would run out of the prescribed amount I can write to tell you how patient, professional, timely, intelligent, and good Dr. Loiben is. He returns calls promptly, is firm and fair, and I have learned to completely trust him with my care.

Out of 5 stars, I give Dr. Loiben 5+. Out of all the doctors I've experienced, not one could help me. I spent 11 years in my life suffering on a daily basis. I basically gave up. When I was at my lowest, my psychologist put me in contact with Dr. Loiben. I thought to myself, here we go again. My Outlook was poor. Long story short, he gave me my life back. 11 years waisting away. If it wasn't for him, I would not be alive. I know that doesn't sound good but it's true. I'm very thankful for him and the staff on Layton avenue.

Dr. Loiben is a very down-to-earth and helpful doctor. I've been seeing him for 10+ years. Between 1-5 visits a year. The bad ratings here and the claim that he is "smug" do not match my experience at all. Of 3 psych docs I've had (including one at the VA) Dr. Loiben is the best and easiest to talk to. Give him respect, and take a genuine interest in helping yourself (i.e. get on the net and research your condition, and various medications, as much as you can). I do that, and can speak intelligently about my issues and meds. Dr. Loiben respects that. Psychiatry is a tough field. The human brain and disorders within are very complex. If a doctor can't perform miracles, don't blame him. Be patient and show him you take an interest and are trying to help yourself.
