I have been seeing Dr. McSwain regularly for 13 years, since I started having arrhythmias. I feel quite lucky to have had him as my doctor. He is a kind man who patiently answers my questions in detail. My situation is under control and monitored without taking an invasive approach.

With a recent diagnosis of A Fib, I walked into Virginia Heart with trepidation. My first step was with the nurses, and I began to calm down. They were kind and efficient. Then my time with Dr. McSwain began. It took only a few minute to know that I was in excellent hands! After the informative session, along with his understanding attitude, I left with a new outlook on my future. It was one of the best doctor appointments I have ever had!

EKG given before exam. Dr. McSwain had read the results of my ICD and went over the results with me. Spent time with me and I left the appointment feeling my 20 minutes was not a waste of time.

Sraightforward assessment of my problem, and simple proposal of the solution.

Dr. McSwain is willing to listen to you with any concerns you have and explain any issues that you may have.

In my first meeting with Dr. McSwain he carefully reviewed data I had collected on the abnormal condition for which I was referred to him. In doing so he showed me the key features in the data set on which he focused to assess the nature and severity of the condition. He then laid out available treatment options, explained their advantages and disadvantages, and recommended the treatment he considers most likely to effect improvement in my condition. Dr. McSwain answered all my questions directly and clearly. I was immediately confident in his choice and have scheduled the procedure he recommends at the earliest opening available. After being referred to Dr. Mcswain I learned that he also treats a neighbor for the same general condition. She informed me that she appreciates the care he provides her and that she is certain I will be confident in the quality of care Dr. McSwain provides me.

I have been under Dr. McSwain's care since 2011. He is an excellent physician who has always been considerate and professional in providing care for me.

Dr. McSwain is extremely professional, knowledgeable and personable. Everything you want your doctor to be.

I have AFIB and higher than normal heart rate, and blood pressure is on the low side. Dr. McSwain allowed me to voice my preference about an antiarrhythmic drug and he prescribed it. I am very appreciative he is giving me the opportunity to try it. Virginia Heart is very good about returning phone calls.

Several years ago, Dr. McSwain saved my life. He was very responsive to my condition, my preferences, and what I needed to have a good life. When I moved from Virginia to Delaware I looked for and was able to find very competent, reliable new doctors. However, I did not try to find a new EP. I return to VA as needed to see Dr. McSwain. It is worth every minute of the drive - even on Routes 495 and 66 - to be able to maintain Dr. McSwain as my EP.

6 month check up.

Excellent physician! Managed my arrhythmia medically for about a year. When it became bothersome went for ablation. Dr. McSwain was excellent keeping me informed and thoroughly explained everything as the procedure progressed. Highly recommend Dr. McSwain and staff.

Great, caring Doc!

This is my surgical follow-up. Dr. McSwain performed my cryo-ablation. Everything was seamless I’ve been eight months without an issue. Dr. Swain is a great doctor great manner and sensibility explains things well. Really really happy with how Virginia heart has treated me.

Would recommend him 100%. Everything we talked about pre and post procedure (SVT Ablation) has occurred. I couldn't be happier.
