Had injury to my eye repaired by De Shofner and was pleased. When needed cataract surgery thought of him. My wife couldn't go to appoint with me and when she called in to verify information, I was told staff was rude and kept saying we went over this with him. Some charges they would not bill my insurance for, said they wouldn't pay anyway. I would have rather had my insurance tell me that. When you call in to talk to billing you are told they are not in office today.. Not very clear when giving you information about when to arrive for surgery had to wait 2 to 3 hours since they use someone else facility and even if you have an appoint at 9:00 if another surgeon's surgery was booked before you that you were unaware of you have to wait. Got there at 9 am didn't have surgery til 1230 or 1 pm. Whole procedure was confusing and very stressful.

Not likely at all
He was rude to me and his staff, my fiancé has had 3 surgeries from him and his eyesight gets worse after each surgery, but Shoffner tries to convince him it’s better. Go anywhere else.

Sesame street condescending
The nurses and office folks at Shofner's were very nice. Dr. Shofner however is extremely condescending and talks to you as if you were on 3rd grade. He dumbs down his feedback to such a level where it is actually useless for one to act or decide on. I am sure he does not mean any harm but I suspect senility maybe a factor. I called his office and gave feedback and was told he is working with a consultant in this regard. Unfortunately I can not possibly recommend his practice.

I did research for months before I chose Dr Shofner. His staff was very thorough with exams and tests, and the PRK surgery brought my sons vision to 20/20. The cataract surgery that my wife had brought her vision from 20/600 to 20/100, which is a blessing being she has stargardts disease. I've sent family members from out of state to him with perfect results from lasic and cataract surgery. I'll be having my own cataract surgery in the spring, and Shofner eye center will be doing mine also.

Shofner took what vision I did have and won't hear me when I tell him. Just keeps over riding my complaint with excuses and now my life is ruined because he screwed up my cataract surgery. He doesn't listen & hushes you when you tell him something's not right. He's rude to his nurses and condescending to me, his patient. Also, the surgery center he uses smells like sewage, everything is very old, and it's filthy in every room. You'll wait at least 2 hrs past your scheduled time for surgery.
