Terrible bedside manner
My very first colonoscopy & it was a horrible experience. Nothing was explained to me & I had multiple things that were found during the exam. He literally peeked his head around the curtain & talked to me for 30 seconds. When it came time to schedule my 3 year follow up colonoscopy, I requested a different doctor. I was told that he wouldn’t do a transfer of care. I expected more from Mercy because I am a former employee of Mercy Health. Very disappointed to say the least.

Screening colonoscopy review
Dr. Wells and the staff were all excellent. Completely on time with everything, painless IV start, no bleeding from polypectomy. I especially liked the IV nurse and the anesthesiologist. However, their "one size fits all" prep approach is badly flawed. Dr. Wells confirmed that I was well prepped. I took only about 1/2 of the ordered prep and had violent diarrhea for 8 hours. The last 6 hours were nothing but clear liquid. My abdomen felt like someone had been punching me for hours by the time I was done. It is now almost 48 hours later and my intestines are finally settling down. I can only imagine how I would have felt had I done the full prep. Since I was "well prepped" and had clear BM's the last 6 hours, I suspect I would have been "well prepped" after 2 hours. I understand the need and benefits of a good prep, but this cannot be good for my body and discourages me from having additional colonscopies in the future. There has to be a better approach.

Dr. Wells offered a great experience and left me very comfortable and at ease. He seemed to be in a bit of a rush when offing his view of my procedure. Would have liked more time with him. The real gripe I have is that I still have been told about my pathology results. I’ve BEEN BILLED for them though. I’ve called 3 times and asked for the results and NO RETURN CALL. This is infuriating for those of us who are anxiously awaiting news about our health. You would think that someone could call

My experience as Dr. Wells patient (3+ years) through the years was pleasant. There were times he didn't know how to treat my condition, which was odd. He recently cancelled me as a patient with no notice or explanation. This is extremely disheartening as I never saw this coming. This speaks to the integrity of Dr. Wells & his office. His office told me it was his discretion to cancel patients without warning. This has impacted my family greatly. I feel disrespected and violated as a patient.

Dr. Wells and his back office staff are wonderful. The young front office receptionist needs a little lesson in how to treat people. She was rude and dismissive. I tried to hand her my insurance card and I.D. and she ignored me. Then, she had to ask me for my insurance card and I.D. anyway! The other receptionist, the older woman, was very nice.
