Inguinal hernia repair
After initial appointments with 3 different organizations, I chose Dr Yates because of his flexibility and care in regards to meeting my needs. I was highly stressed about the surgery and I wanted to avoid general anesthesia. Dr. Yates was the only doctor who would consider this over laparoscopic. He was confident in either choice and allowed me to decide. I’m still unsure why other doctors just disregarded my concerns about laparoscopic surgery. My appointment was comfortable as it could be. I was told to schedule when I was ready and he would be there for me even if I chose open inguinal surgery. My surgery was May 2023. The Seattle hernia center experience was positive, even though I was extremely nervous. The nurses before during and after were comforting. The anesthesiologist really helped me relax. And the surgery went really well. I highly recommend Dr Yates if you have anxiety about the surgery. He is a true professional. Open surgery at UW worked for me!

I live out of state and recently had a bi lateral surgery repair from Dr. Yates at the NW Hospital Surgery Center. The entire experience I had with Dr. Yates and his team was 100% positive. Everyone was helpful, pleasant, and professional. Dr. Yates was very helpful during my initial exam, patiently answering all my questions and explaining the procedure. I had a robotically assisted laparoscopic surgery. I am three weeks out from my surgery and experienced very little pain and a rapid recovery. I give Dr. Yates and his team my highest recommendation!

My visit proved to be a very positive experience. A very kind and friendly woman greeted me at the front and asked me to fill out some paper work. I was taken into the examination room by two gracious professionals who took vital signs, etc. Dr. Yates is obviously knowledgeable and a doctor who treats a patient with understanding and respect. He answered all my questions and told me not to hesitate to ask more if needed in due course.

My surgery for a troublesome gallbladder was scheduled as soon as it was safe to do elective surgery during the Covid-19 outbreak. Everyone in the offices and at the hospital used every precaution. I feel that I received the very best care. I had no complications and a very quick recovery.

I came to NW Hospital with a small bowel obstruction. It became worse while at the hospital. I became septic and the pain was unrelenting. Dr. Yates took the time to explain to me and my wife about the emerging need for exploratory small bowel surgery. It was discovered before entering the bowel that I had a gangrenous gall bladder. He took the time to answer all of our questions. I feel like he and his team saved my life. I am currently recovering well from the surgery.

I first discovered respect for Dr. Yates when he so very valiantly worked hard to save my mother's life a couple years back. His attitude and approach to her condition was of the utmost professionalism mixed in with a humble and compassionate bedside manner. He also stepped in and advocated for my father at this time. By coincidence, I was assigned Dr. Yates when I developed an hernia a couple months back. The procedure went smoothly and I couldnt have been in better hands! Thank YOU, sir!

Dr. Yates saved my life and I will be forever grateful to him. I truly lucked out that he was on call when I was admitted to the hospital. He worked tirelessly with the team of doctors on my case and he was the one that I immediately felt was in charge and on my side. He operated on me twice in four months successfully. A brilliant surgeon, with gentle bedside manner, he patiently discussed and explained. I know he has specialties, but if I have to have any surgery again I will beg him to do it.

So thankful to have found Dr. Yates! This was my 3rd hernia repair and I truly believe it will be my last because of not only his excellent care, but also the "education" he shared both before and after! I would recommend him and his staff to anyone, he is compassionate and makes you feel at ease immediately. My LARGE incision (due to size of hernia) has been complimented by EVERYONE as an excellent repair. All staff at NW hospital said I had selected the best doctor and they were right!
