I’m too Thick I Guess
He just alluded to me being fat as the core source of my problem. I thought I was alone in that experience but it looks another patient also had this issue of being undermined. Basically, would not take my input seriously, and alluded that bc I'm overweight that acid reflux was the reason I was having throat and sinus issues? I am regularly coughing up phlegm my dude. Otherwise it was pretty hilarious that he came to that conclusion, I can lose the weight but idk if that will help my post nasal drip and stuffy ears (stuffy probably from all the fat lol). But hey, I’ll do my best! If things don’t improve, sounds like I’ll be in the camp of people that will just go elsewhere for help. The front office team was pretty efficient though and checking in was a breeze.

So many questions….
I had sinus surgery with Dr Youkilis 9 years ago in 2015. At the time I thought he was an amazing doctor, but now almost a decade later I’m having to have surgery AGAIN because the problem he told me he “cured” has come back. AND, I only had about 3 follow ups after my surgery and then he told me I’d graduated and shouldn’t need any else so no need to come back. Found out today, that to keep the problem I have in check, I should be followed by an ENT regularly and doing rinses and medications to keep my sinus inflammation from coming back. I was not educated or told that ANY long term maintenance care was needed AND it’s possible my second surgery could have been prevented with routine monitoring. Sad & confused because feel like he let me down. My entire right side of my face-all the sinuses are blocked now, instead of the one area I had operated on years ago. And literally if I’d known this could happen I might have been able to prevent it. :(

Should have his license suspended
Went to Dr. Youkilis for a deviated septum surgery. He told me he could fix a cosmetic concern I had as well. The outcome was a disfigured nose with no improvement to breathing. He still sent me a $800 bill for the cosmetic aspect of what he did, since it wasn't covered under insurance. I ended up spending $13,000 for a revision nose job at a top cosmetic surgeon in Indy 1 year later who told me Dr. Youkilis shouldn't be asking to be compensated for what he did. Youkilis & their office never returned my calls and sent my unpaid medical bill to collections. Should have his license suspended instead of continuing without consequence

A good doctor for allergy, etc…NOT ORAL CANCER!
Dr. Youkilis has a great bed side manner and I really think he is a good doctor for allergy, asthma, ear tubes, etc. If that’s all you need then I think you’re in good hands. For me, as an oral cancer survivor it is now clear to me he was in way over his head. I went to him in 2018 with a sore in my mouth and I was very concerned as I had oral cancer previously. I wanted a biopsy. He insisted it was just a dry mouth sore and not concerning. I went back again with the same result. Fast forward two and half years later and I came back insisting on a biopsy because it hadn’t gone away and was getting very painful. It was cancer and it progressed and was very out of control. After many many surgeries and over a month total in the hospital I’m left without a tongue, no bottom teeth, no bottom jaw, no fibula bone in my leg to recreate a jaw, two tracheostomies, many skin grafts, a permanent feeding tube amongst other things. If you think it’s cancer go to IU Cancer Center!

Dr. Youkilis went out of his way to perform surgery on a Saturday so we could know if our daughter's cancer had spread to her thyroid lymph nodes. He later said he would have wanted the same for his family members. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Youkilis is quick to recommend surgery, which just happens to be in his surgery center. This is a conflict of interest. I would suggest getting a second opinion for his diagnosis.

Had a septoplasty in 2014. My deviated septum collapsed within a week. He claimed it was due to not having stents. Stents are rarely used in these procedures. We rescheduled 2 months later- used stents- he did not charge me. Taking them out was horrible -cursing helps! No warning. I suffer from my mucous not draining properly and very thick mucous- caused by stents? I went back several times and he said there was nothing he could do and told me he “messed up” and to not come back again.

I had been suffering from bouts of unsteadiness and other symptoms hard to describe. I thought imbalance=ears. I saw Dr Youkilis who referred to me a neurologist. Turns out I suffer from vestibular migraines which I had never heard of. After some research I learned they're widely misdiagnosed and patients can suffer for years before ever knowing what it is. Thanks to Dr. Youkilis, I got the care I needed. Without him, who knows how long I would've suffered without answers!
