Best Surgeon
Very caring! Was admitted thru ER and he did surgery on a Sunday to clear an abscess and found the cause of all of my pain for the last 2 years! Listens and lets you know that he cares

Heartbroken
Dr Ricciardi performed emergency surgery on my 23 year old son after being in Mass General for 5 days, the surgery was performed on December 22, he performed a total colectomy. After the initial surgery he had to go back in less than 12 hours later as my son was bleeding somewhere and they needed to figure out where and we were told to rush back into the hospital as my son was touch and go…. Worst phone call ever, after the second surgery they left him open. They decided to close him about 3 days later, long story short my son passed away on January 14 from brain swelling. We are devastated beyond belief, we did not bring our son to one of the best hospitals in the country to have him die of an infection and organ failure that we feel they delayed treatment of.

Dr. Ricciardi was amazing. I was extremely worried about my worsening diverticulitis and was hospitalized for 5 days during which he recommended and explained a surgical intervention. He explained the surgery in detail, the risks of having surgery as well as the risks of not having surgery. He showed me my MRI in detail and fully explained every step of the procedure. We had a lengthy pre-op virtual visit and he took so much time to answer my questions and explain everything. He responded to emails quickly and returned calls within hours. I felt confident that I was in very good hands. My recovery went very well and we had an in-person post-op visit. Dr Ricciardi has a good sense of humor, is calm and calming, and took his time to answer any questions I had. I can't imagine going through surgery without having a doctor who listens and reassures the patient because everyone worries before going through a surgical procedure. I'm grateful that Dr Ricciardi was my surgeon!

Dr. Rocco Ricciardi dropped me as a patient without telling me this directly because he was not happy with the honest feedback that I gave on a solicited Mass General Hospital survey form. When I called to confirm a surgical appointment, his scheduler told me that he had dropped me as a patient. I have been in pain for over 3 months from a hemorrhoidectomy and I was hoping that this doctor could help me.

Responded immediately to my problem of bowel obstruction. He needed to do immediate surgery to fix the problem. Maybe not his fault but medical condition is still bad or worse. Would have liked Dr. Richardi to take more interest in post op condition. Have been back to emergency room with nasty inpatient stays a dozen times with no relief in sight. Two years of misery and counting.
