Dr. Kirschner came highly recommended to me, although I was warned he was gruff...and such. I didn't see that at all. He explained the surgery to me in detail, asked me several times if I had questions, was very kind and compassionate. He has my complete faith and confidence. No 2nd opinions needed.

Dr Kirshner performed open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve less than a week ago, I cannot stress enough how professional and capable he is as a surgeon. Many people do not like his outwardly gruff nature, but at no point did I feel he wasn't the best man for the job. I had a secondary emergency surgery immediately following the first, I could never repay him for all he has done for me and my family. If you want a surgeon that you can trust with your life he is the man for you.

In the 15 minutes that I saw him, he checked his cell phone twice. Dr. Kirshner was evasive and dismissive, not answering my questions about the open heart surgery (cardiac myectomy). He walked out of the interview. To have this surgery is not an option for me. Rochester, NY would have been much more convenient for me and for my family. My primary care physician and my cardiologist are happier with my choice of the Cleveland Clinic. Following my visit and assessment there, so am I.
