Dr Loewenstein’s the best doctor I’ve ever had. He very knowledgeable, very timely and his entire staff is the same way. They know be by name and that’s unheard of these days. I am very fortunate to have him and his staffs care.

Excellent Staff!
Having been a patient of Dr. L's since he began practice I can say without a doubt that he's an excellent MD, he has one of the most efficient medical offices one would ever hope to find and he stays current with medical knowledge. Five Stars!

He listened and helped tremendously.
My complaint was vague. He was able to pinpoint the precise area that needed attention and advised a non invasive treatment plan to start off.

Great Practice!
I have been a patient here since my move back to Tucson approximately 18 months ago. I enjoy being a patient of Dr. Lowenstein and Monika Lynn, NP. I feel listened to and cared about. I don’t ever feel rushed when I am being seen by either practitioner. The office staff all seem to enjoy the practice and are happy to work there.

Dr. Lowenstein is fine (not great, not terrible) but the rest of the office staff makes me dread every visit. I've been a patient for the last 8 years and I wish I made the decision to switch my care to elsewhere much sooner. Every person in the office acts like they don't want to be there and don't want you there either. Appointment times are inconvenient at best and they can't wait to bill you extra if you're late. There is no reasoning with the staff. They will quickly dismiss any concern if it conflicts with their rigid and inflexible policies. I feel more like a piece of meat holding a wallet than a patient. I don't know why I put up with this for so long. I truly regret ever going here.

Poor Client Care
Was a patient of his for many years. The last visit, he said was only necessary to see him 'as needed'. My cardiologist was sending charts over to him, I called to schedule an appointment and was told since I hadn't had an appointment in couple years, I was now considered a new client and had to get 're-accepted'. After 3 days of a 'review' process I was told he was not accepting new patients. I asked what was done when my charts were sent over and was told 'well we can send them to your new doctor'. Staff was uninterested and not helpful at all. Waited for a call from the office supervisor and instead got the same person who relayed the supervisors message. Find a different doctor who actually cares.

PCP failure
The office staff is great! The Dr. and/or NP only focus on one issue per appointment (only 15min appts) despite what is going on or having multi symptoms occurring. He punts to other physicians consistently, even if it’s standard procedure tests that he CAN order. Recently, after many visits and a lot of time and pain (months due to Dr. refusing to look at the whole picture…and diagnosing me with two things I didn’t/don’t have)…a scan that I had to ask a specialist doctor that I go to for something unrelated…proved an abnormality that would be causing my pain and a surgery consult was needed. I asked Dr. L for pain management to get me through until surgery consultation. I was then informed the he doesn't prescribe pain medication. He send patients to pain clinics…which takes days to be seen. From a nurse-If you are looking for a doctor that has empathy and compassion…or a doctor that listens….seek elsewhere. AND…if you have any pain…definitely don’t waste your time. I fired him.

A complete clown
I was a patient for a few years. At first a decent doctor. Then over time was combative and simply arrogant. No self awareness of how to speak with respect to a patient. I fired him and explained to him why. He didn’t even seem to care. I would not recommend him at all

I too was turned away because I was 6 minutes late due to an accident on my way to the office. I hobbled in with a broken toe but was still denied access to my provider. Dr. Lowenstein doesn't seem to listen to you. He changed a prescription that was ordered by my kidney specialist who told me to ignore what Dr. Lowenstein had said. However, I love Monika his NP so will continue to go there for the time being.

Long-term Patient vs New Patient Experience
Answer to Pat R., 6/21/2022: Undoubtedly, you have been a patient of Dr. L. for quite a while. He was nice when he was in practice with Dr. M. Now that Dr. M. has retired, it appears that Dr. L. is trying to get rid of all the patients that Dr. M. left in his care. I am very disappointed and quite honestly, I think Dr. M. would be horrified if he knew how his former patients were being treated. I, too, am an RN with over 25 years of experience, most of it in the ICU. I felt insulted and disrespected at my "initial" appointment.

Awesome care and friendly office
What a wonderful doctor. I am a nurse and elderly and find the poor reviews totally off!! Front office are highly friendly and competent both on the phone and in person. The doctor is very very concerned with total body health and head to toe he does excellent evaluations and skilled in medication knowledge. Both my husband and myself go to him and highly recommend him as very personable and competent. Some people object to medicare questions but they are mandated and docs don't like to have to do some of it either but really he listens, questions you and is one of the best doc's I've had in my lifetime!!! Great office and great doc!!!

Dr. Lowenstein is very condescending toward his elderly patients. He talks down to them rather than with respect. He rushes through appts without paying attention to what the patient is saying. Hs office is very mismanaged....it shouldn't take three weeks to get a referral issued. The office also nichols and dimes the patients, including for sending a fax to another doctor. Do NOT waste your time with him.

Unprofessional staff
I am in the medical field and I was trying to set up an appointment with Dr. Lowenstein and the front office is plain out rude. As soon as I walked in that office I had a bad vibe. I heard the front receptionist turn away an elderly lady (Patient) because she was eight minutes late. Not to mention that it was in the middle of hot day and she was ambulating with the assistance of a four wheel walker due to some spinal back injury. The nurse practitioner pretty much told the receptionist that she’s not going to see her because she was eight minutes late. The elderly lady was nearly in tears. As for my appointment, I was told that there was told by the same Front receptionist (Elizabeth) that there are appointments in July but with his nurse practitioner. Knowing how the nurse practitioner (Monica) handled that appointment with the elderly lady, I asked not to see her for my first appointment and the front receptionist told me that “ we can’t see you as a patient” and hung up.

I had an appointment, showed up well in time for it, and because someone ahead of me in line made it 3 minutes after my appointment time before I could check in, I was sent home. What a waste of my time! The staff and MD who I spoke with about it later really didn't care and just noted it as their policy. This is not a client centered practice. People should not be sent home when they arrive on time!

Roy Lowenstein is an excellent physician. He has been my primary doctor for 6 years and I have nothing but good to say about him. My annual physical is thorough, his questions regarding my health and symptoms are detailed and his counsel is precise. An excellent communicator.

My wife had a routine visit with Dr. Loewenstein after new symptoms a week prior to the visit, symptoms suggestive of a mild heart attack. When we tried to tell him about them he would only look at his computer and speak of her old complaints. Twice we tried to tell him of her new symptoms, and were cut off by him saying, "your 15 Minutes are up."A week later she had another more severe episode, treated with an emergency stent after calling 911. I, her husband, am a retired surgeon, and was shocked by his response. He need to listen to his patients! We have transferred our primary care to another doctor!

I've been seeing Dr Lowenstein for 7 years. The first 2 years he was an excellent listener and very attentive to my well being. This has tapered off to the point that I'm now aggressively searching for another Internist. He doesn't listen. I find myself repeating myself about conditions/issues he's been aware of since I became his patient. I never know what I'm going to get from one appointment to the next. He can be very accommodating, then the next appointment, hasty and disregarding my concerns, health and well being, appearing insensitive. and not concerned about my individual situation. He doesn't answer questions or explain the reason for decisions he makes that obviously affect my life, other than to say "times have changed". He has flip-flopped on my medications to the point of causing me a lot of stress. He seems to go on attack mode when I'm by myself and/or not feeling well. He's demeaning and says a lot of negative things.
