Excellent Clinician
I have been treated by Dr Prashad for a rare autoimmune condition since late summer 2024. It is a rare disease that required careful study and research. The timing of treatment was critical and the doctor saw me almost immediately after I called his office. Upon my appearance at his office he quickly confirmed the diagnosis and began an infusion and medication that preserved my eyesight and vascular health.. He arranged for me to see a vascular surgeon and eye doctor that day. My treatment regimen involves a new medication developed in Europe and Dr Prashad coordinating with my other physicians has researched the medication and treatment with great success. He has shown himself to be an open minded, listening clinician with a superior talent for attention to detail who consults with my hematologist and nephrologist. I give him my highest recommendation.

Absolutely recommend!
Kind, caring, compassionate, understanding and knowledgeable physician. Listens patiently and answers all questions. Discusses treatment options thoroughly, expected outcome and potential side effects. At times my appointment has been delayed possibly due to unforeseen circumstances with a prior patient. In return he does not rush my appointment. Office staff is kind and helpful. The 2 staff members juggle many tasks.I as well as 3 family members are current patients of Dr. Prashad. We have not encountered some of the very negative experiences others have mention. I do recommend Dr. Prashad.

PATIENTS BEWARE!
I was seen by Dr. Prashad in December, 2023, for a recurring eye infection. When Dr. Prashad entered the room, he immediately (with conviction) requested that I remove all my clothes and offered no additional explanation as to why. Remember, this is for an EYE INFECTION. There was no NP, RN, or PA in the room, which made me feel that much more uncomfortable because it was just Dr. Prashad and myself. I refused, first by letting him know that it was 'that time of the month'. It was only at that point that Dr. Prashad took a step back (both literally and figuratively) and continued with the exam. Blood had been taken, and I was told that I would hear from him or his office only if there was something wrong. I never heard from his office, and had blood taken months later from my Primary. The results were alarming, and looking back in my patient portal from the initial blood test required a phone call to which I never received. In my opinion Dr. Prashad is negligent and innapropriate.

Beware
I have never left a negative review for a doctor, but I feel the need to this time. I was referred to Dr. Prashad by my hematologist. I scheduled my appointment a month ago and when I arrived today, I was informed that it was never saved in the system and that someone else now has that appointment time. I was offered a different time 2 weeks later. As a person with a job, this would be difficult for me to do. I said that I wanted to speak with Dr. Prashad so he could tell me this himself and then I waited in the waiting room. I was later informed that he had just left for lunch, so he was unavailable for me to speak to -umm… so he left for lunch during the time my appointment was supposed to be? I ended up having an argument in the waiting room with the other patient who was given my appointment time. I honestly in my entire life have never had an experience like this at any doctor’s office. I am currently searching for a different Dr and will be reading the reviews this time.

Good Dr/ poorly run office
Dr. Prashad is thorough and has a calming bedside manner. However, his abilities are overshadowed by poor communication amongst the office staff, office staff who fail to deliver sensitive medical information in a compassionate manner, and sadly, speak to patients in an argumentative, unprofessional manner.

I was treated by the doctor on two previous occasions and experienced the long office waits like some of the other reviews. For this visit the office confirmed my appointment for two days hence, when I arrived for my scheduled appointment I was told that they no longer accepted my insurance (RailRoad Medicare) and I would have to pay the office visit rate ($250) out of pocket. I was surprised and asked for an explanation, I got none, also I asked why I was not notified of the change in policy when the office person I spoke to on the phone had confirmed the appointment, I live 28 miles from the doctor's office and the information would have saved me a 56 mile round trip. Dr Prashad seems like a smart enough doctor to handle my condition but I wont be going back, there are enough other doctors around that I can go to.

Last week was my first time visiting with Dr.Prashad. I have to say that he is the one & only doctor who took the time to listen to me and ask questions regarding my health so he can figure out what’s wrong with me. He’s such a caring and compassionate doctor. I’m used to doctors dismissing me as soon as they see me because I’m only 21 years old. That was not the case with Dr.Prashad. I already recommended him to multiple people because of how amazing he is.

This is by far the most compassionate and knowledgeable rheumatologist I've seen,..and I've seen many. He's a down to earth, easy to talk to doctor,..and the best part is he actually listens. I'm a complex case but he has covered all bases and isn't quick to stick you with a label. I never feel rushed in this office and feel like I have his complete attention, unlike most Doctors these days that spend most of your appointment time looking at a computer. I highly recommend this Doctor!

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Prashad's for almost 11 years. He is kind, caring, thorough and an expert in his field. He has never rushed us through our appointment and has taken us the same day when it's been an emergency. No office is perfect and after reading a few negative reviews below I can honestly say we have never seen Dr. Prashad behave in anything but a caring, professional manor to his patients, while at the same time I've seen disrespectful, irrational people in the waiting room. Any extra waiting time is due to the fact that he is taking the time that the patient before you needs. We try to remember that when we have to wait and when its our appointment, we try to stay on point and be considerate of the next patient. We can also say that as of our latest appointments his office staff is excellent, caring and professional. We consider Dr. Prashad a very important part of our overall health care. Highly recommend.

I have been a patient of Dr. Prashad for years. I just went to an appointment but was told that I did not have an appointment. I told them that I did, but was not believed. As I stood there telling the staff as well as the doctor that I in fact had an appointment, another patient was leaving, and apparently her appointment was messed up too. I finally got to see Dr. Prashad after an hour, and needed an injection in my hand. He refused, saying he was ‘accommodating me’ and that he did not have the time. Accommodating me? I asked him. Again, I told him that I had an appointment. He did not believe me. He stated that he ‘fit me into his break’ (really? He needs a break at 10am after starting at 9?). He said to ‘come back later’. When I got home I found my original appointment card, and I called the office and asked for their email so that I could prove that I did in fact have the appointment. If this is how he treats patients, I can understand the high employee turnover. Never again!

The wait in this office is ridiculous . It seems ever since the Office manager left the office service has become worse. The front desk staff is bitter and talk about the doctor openly and the girl at the desk is moody at times she is nice other times a real you know what. He is a good doctor but somehow I do not think they value a patients time here preferences are given to drug reps that intrude it seems.

Nightmare experience! Waited over 2months to be seen by this so called Dr. Confirmed they accepted my insurance upon appt scheduling & when I arrived at my appt, office re-confirmed they accepted my insurance. 1hr wait time. Weeks later my insurance rejected the claim b/c the office was wrong & they did not accept my insurance after all. Dr sent me pregnant for a pelvic xray without doing a pregnancy test & exposed baby to radiation. Dr also refused to call me w/bloodwork results. Terrible staff

I went through many Rhuematologists not only on the East End but also in Stony Brook I can't tell you how happy I was to find Dr. Prashad. He is an excellent diagnostician, he actually listens he doesn't presume and takes the time out to explain everything, no question is too small for him. His office staff has always been extremely friendly. On the rare occasions that I have had to wait for my appointment I remind myself that he is taking time to answer another patients question.
