Avoid Doctor Fathollahi unless you want to be treated as a dollar-maker. She won’t let you open your mouth unless she can prescribe more drugs to you or refer you to more doctors. My second and last appointment with her was a phone call about some blood test results, which unfortunately came with bad news. Doctor Fathollahi called 5 hours late and started talking non-stop without even checking if I was listening or if I was there at all. Needless to say, she didn’t offer the minimum apology or acknowledgement that I had been waiting for her call, worried about the bad news. When I finally mentioned that I had been waiting for her call and felt abandoned, she started talking over me, repeating that I was insulting her. I had to beg her if she could please listen for a moment. She hung up on me without sharing the details of my disease. This was the most surreal, least professional experience I ever had with a doctor and it left me literally in tears.

I do not recommend Dr. Fathollahi as she always runs over half an hour late and her office constantly messed up billing and diagnosis codes, which caused insurance to deny coverage for tests that were routine and should be covered. When I asked the dr. to recheck the billing codes, she didn’t and said she has to pay out of pocket for her son’s blood tests, which is irrelevant to my case. I ended up spending hours on the phone with insurance to understand the errors. The errors were obvious, such as she billed blood tests for me, a 30 yo woman, as tests for an infant, so my insurance denied coverage. When the codes were changed to be for a 30-35 yo woman, all my tests were suddenly covered.

Dr. Fathollahi listened well to my problems. However, after that, she did not seem to have the motivation to solve my issues and instead ordered test after test with no real helpful results, in the end concluding that my problem was not a problem. She also sent the tests to an out-of-network lab that cost me hundreds of dollars.

I would give zero star if I could. Dr. Roya Fathollahi was late for my appointment. I called multiple times and were told to stay on the line. I had been waiting for almost an hour before they finally told be that the doctor was not available. This office is extremely dysfunctional. If you really have nothing else to do and enjoy wasting your time, then please visit this office (Manhattan Specialty Care) or this doctor.
