Dr. Ruben Almanza, MD

Dr. Almanza is fully empathetic and demonstrates genuine care for patients like me and my family. He fully attends to my needs and requests. He presents comprehensive health options without hesitation, showing thoroughness in care.He is also Deaf-friendly and exhibits patience, making the experience comfortable for me as a Deaf patient.Overall, he is a 'What-a-wonderful-doctor!' kind of doctor!

My husband has been seeing this Dr for 4 years. Last month was seen by a new NP who added a new med, stopped blood pressure med, said return in one week to see how he is. I called office to let them know he was having problems with new med, they said go to ER or wait till next visit. All these came from office manager who is not a nurse and does not know or understand medical problems. I asked to please be quiet and listen to what I was saying about the problems this med was doing. She hung up the phone on me! I finally went in to ask for a walk in appointment and my husband's profile had been deleted! I had to call my insurance to report the poor response to my husband bad reaction to med changes and no Dr available to answer next step. My insurance reported his office to Medicare. This office has no nurse available to take medical calls and report back. Next day we received a letter saying this Dr would no longer see my husband. I suspect the office manager runs this office how she sees fit, thus I sent Dr a letter explaining how this one person treated us, but he don't care, never got any guidance as what to do next with medications, never received an answer.

I have seen Almanza for so long I cant remember when i first had seen him. (Some time since early 2000's. Since I hadn't been sick since 2001 they considered me a new patient and will no longer see me which took a week to decide. Extremely disappointed in this practice because he's been one of only two doctors in my lifetime. Not complaining about his knowledge cause he's a great doctor just disappointed that after so long they do this to a lifetime patient.

I made a new patient appointment in January and could only get a March appointment. I was called a week before and asked to reschedule to April. I just got another call to reschedule the April appointment! I wasted 4 months trying to just be seen. I will find another Dr. and Practice that wants to see new patients and cares about their health.

When I called to schedule an appointment, I asked for something early. The receptions said they had a 7:30 a.m. and I said “Oh, no. I don’t even open my eyes until 7:30 a.m. I meant early like after 8 or around 9.” We laughed about it and she said, we can do an 11:20. And that was the time that we agreed on and even repeated twice before the end of the call. I leave my office at 11:00 to be at the appointment at 11:20. I get there, and the receptionist said, “Your appointment was for 7:30.” I said “It was set for 11:20. We talked about the earlier appointment and even laughed about it. There was no way I would have ever scheduled anything that doesn’t involve fasting before 8:00 a.m. ” She had me sit down and said, “Let me see what I can do.” Few minutes later comes another staffer and said, “Your appointment was for 7:30. “ We went back and forth. The woman argued with me and then offered me the opportunity to come about after 3:00 if I wanted. But I had already taken

They always take care of me. Scheduling an appointment is easy.

Dr. Almanza is an amazing doctor. However, his PA is NOT! He didn't listen to my son's issues and took advantage that he's young, ordering unnecessary in-office blood work testing that is not covered by insurance and had just been done by another physician costing us $80. Now, we will have to pay another $98. Unbelievably disappointed. Office staff sent me on a wild goose chase regarding canceling these tests as they say they had already sent them out when he had just left there 10 minutes earlier. I guess they need to pay for the new building on Lipes by sticking patients with huge unnecessary charges. This PA/office even signed my son up for a prescription discount card called Hippo which we don't need because our RXs are covered by private insurance. Just ridiculous how my son did not get the professional care he needed. Will not take my sons back ever! Too bad.
