Dr. Ruben Hernandez-Santiago, MD

I was referred to Dr. Hernandez by another patient of his, who had a total hip replacement many years ago, and you cannot tell he has it. My primary physician referred me to another orthopedist, who told me he could do the surgery the following week. I was eager to have my pain disappear, but I wanted to know what Dr. Hernandez would say about my pain and treatment options. He examined me and saw my x-rays. After that, he said 'I have bad news: Your pain is NOT from your hip. Your pain is coming from your back.' I replied 'but the crays say I have hip arthritis', and he answered: 'Yes, but that pain you are having, comes from your lower back'. He gave me the information of a Pain Management doctor, who did 3 spinal blocks and the pain disappeared!!! I am glad I did not have the surgery. Thank you for good physicians like Dr. Hernandez.
