Dr. Rupal Patel, MD

I don't write reviews often but have had such a great experience I had to share. Dr Patel is a very caring and smart neonatologist. We were extremely overwhelmed by the entire NICU experience. Some days were very stressful and some were uneventful, truly a roller coaster ride. She helped ease our anxiety by explaining what was going on with our baby in a way that anyone can understand. She was very thoughtful in her approach and we could see that in the care he received. We feel she really cared about our baby as if she was caring for a member of her own family. She is very passionate about what she does and it shines through.

Dr Patel took care of my baby. She’s great at explaining complex problems and creating a step by step approach. She is very personable and my wife and I felt very comfortable asking her questions. She always made time for us no matter how busy it was. She is very honest and knowledgeable. I feel like she really cared about our child and was on our side throughout our journey.

She is a very good neonatologist. She spends time explaining what is going on with my baby and provides steps on what to do next for the problems at hand. My baby was not feeling well so she had to perform a lumbar puncture get blood work and obtain urinary catheter. I was apprehensive at first but trusted her judgement. So glad I did because my baby had an infection and would’ve died if she didn’t get antibiotics. I’m so thankful for the care I received.

We had a horrible experience with her. She came in determined to put my newborn into the NICU and perform a spinal fluid retrieval. She had no empathy whatsoever when talking to us. When we said we'd want to get a second opinion with our pedi, she was callous enough to call out that it was a Sunday and that she was sure our pedi wouldn't be available. She did not respond to being questioned about what tests she planned to perform. She basically threatened us into signing paperwork for the procedure by saying that if we didn't she'd keep baby for 10 days or more in the NICU and if we did then perhaps less. She went on about having so many of such NICU admissions and procedures and not once showed concern for new parents and a newborn who did not have any issues.
