NIce man, Horrible office
He's a decent, polite man but I will NEVER return to that office, because of the disorganization and the rude office manager, Yoany. On my first visit. I waited more than an hour. After the appt., I was told to call the front desk for my prescription. I did, but the disorganized staff knew nothing about it. My second visit was a nightmare. I arrived on time only to find that three patients were booked for the same time slot! The horrible Yoany had triple booked!! When we asked her about it, she got defensive and stated that they always double book! Later, when the office sent an appointment notice that did. not list which location (they have several) I emailed four times to get this information. They never answered. I had to call to get the right address. When I asked Yoany if she was still double-booking she started screaming that was none of my business and hung up on me. Yes, she hung up on a patient. Rude, unprofessional, inept, no people skills. Dr T deserves better.

Revision
I formally put in a bad review for this doctor. Although I stand by that, the rest of the practice at New York Bone and Joint, including the staff were excellent.

HORRIBLE!!
I have been to 5 orthopedists since August. I finally found Dr tarwala and chose him because he sounded like the best one. Unfortunately, he let me know yesterday Feb 8 that my surgery is too complicated for him to do. I wasted 6 weeks on this doctor. Doesn't call when you PAY for a telehealth. I had an appointment on Tuesday....he called two hours late and said we'll do another telehealth on Thursday. My appointment was for 4:30. He called at 6:30 just to tell me my surgery was 'too complicated for him' after stringing me a long for two months. Never got an explanation, just a referral to NYU langone. Unprofessional. Left me in severe pain for two months and now I have to start all over. I haven't been able to use my left arm since August and have been in severe pain. Now I have to start over with a new hospital. DO NOT GO TO DR TARWALA AT NY BONE AND JOINT IN NYC!!!

I went to get a gel injection to my knee after the injection my knee hurt for the 2 weeks the point of the gel was to make it better not worse I subsequently found out though he knew I had fluid which should have first been withdrawn due to the small space in the knee he left it in therefore I had the discomfort so much for expertise I saw a different md which did the right procedure, sloppy work not focused Would NOTrecommend going there plus the long wait

Interrupts all of your questions, low empathy
Dr. Tarwala rushed and interrupted all of my questions from going over my MRI results. I had to ask about how serious my shoulder tear was at least 3 times, interrupted each time because he kept giving an answer for the wrong question because he only heard half of it. Thankfully, at some point, the assistant(?), who was waiting and standing at the half-opened door the entire visit, chimed in and tried to clarify my question. This was an incredibly rude experience because this information was very important and also very emotionally difficult news to get about my MRI.

Dr. Tarwala was very professional, but my issue is with the way my follow-up consultati was scheduled and billed. My initial appointment was to confirm an opinion that I had. I had no plans to proceed with the procedures that Dr. Tarwala brought up in our initial meeting and I told him that. He suggested that I wait a bit and then let him know my decision by coming back to the office and updating him. He mentioned that he wouldn't charge me for this and I assumed it wouldn't be a big deal. I returned to his office to confirm that I wouldn't go ahead with the procedures he recommended--especially bc they were expensive and out of pocket for me. Our conversation lasted literally a few minutes. I was surprised when I received a bill for a "follow-up consultation" service. I didn't think I would receive a bill after I was assured that I wouldn't be charged and there weren't any services rendered.

Make sure you have a signed. written statement from Dr Tarwala indicating specifically what procedure he is about to perform including possible side effects and estimated time of recovery. If you do not do this you proceed at your own risk. I am unhappily speaking from experience.

A prince of a Dr,and very humane, caring person as a whole. The consult, explanation of my situation was a second opinion U sought. What he told me made perfect sense but was astonishing, plus he pictorialized my condition with a computer program which was worth a thousand words. He loves peanut butter granola bars also,LOL. I highly reccommend him to anyone, everyone and I'm very hard to satisfy. He will be my Dr,forever.

Upon my initial Dr's visit with Dr Rupesh Tarwala, I was extremely pleased. I had anxiety due to my hip condition. He was very patient, considerate & understanding. As to date, he continues to exhibit these qualities. Dr Rupesh Tarwala is very thorough & very clear in all explanations regarding pre-op, post-op, P/T & other follow up events. While doing all of this, he's very tentative to the patients' care & health healing needs. I would definitely refer other friends & family to him.
