Cost Containment is his #1 Priority
I was dealing with upper back pain for about 3 weeks. On the AM I went to the ER, I was in extremely high pain. When I got to ER, the immediate vibe was the nurse nor Dr Cooper we’re too concerned about my pain. After 3 weeks, we wanted an MRI so we could move towards a solution. Dr Cooper said the treatment would be the same. We explained the next step after steroids would require an MRI. He acknowledged we would need an MRI but wouldn’t order the test. He ordered an EKG but not the MRI. When my wife told him to stop thinking about cost containment, he clearly got frustrated and finally ordered the MRI. Had my wife not pushed for the MRI, I would have gotten a short term pain fix (shot they gave me at ER) and then right back to square 1. He is probably a knowledgeable doctor, but he cares more about keeping his cost down than the patient.
