Does not care about patients, minimizes conditions
Dr Decoons is the worst kind of Doctor. On paper extremely impressive, when in person you quickly realize that helping patients is not a priority. I provided multiple MRI scans notes etc upon my first appointment showing an extensive list of injuries, inflammation, and joint degeneration. Extreme pain and not able to use my dominant arm/shoulder for months. 6 months later after jumping through hoops and being told every issue, including a large bone legion, was “no big deal” I got a second opinion. New surgeon immediately scheduled surgery and referred me to an orthopedic oncologist for the large legion. The oncologist ran tests and a bone biopsy which led to a low grade bone cancer diagnosis. I am preparing for a major surgery to have it removed and rebuilt thanks to my wonderful second opinion. Do not waste your time with Dr. Decoons, a surgeon who can ignore a patient in my condition shouldn’t be practicing medicine. Apparently bone cancer is “no big deal” to him.

Does not prioritize patient care
He required 4 PA. He pulled the plug on my surgery which is causing me to suffer because Augusta University Hospital is the only place to get care if you are on limited income
