Arrogant, Unprepared, ill-informed and rude
I went in to a get a consultation about getting PRP for my knee pain. I had I scheduled an office visit and sent in images. When he walked in he immediately said he might not have time to answer my questions but what was I after? It was obvious he had not read the questions or looked at the images so I started to explain and he cut me off by the second sentence. When I said I assumed I should put off an injection until my course of Tamoxifen ended (endocrine therapy for breast cancer) he said 'to my awareness there is no specific contraindication'. I responded that the problem I had heard about is that it could alter platelet function. He repeated that 'to his awareness' that wouldn't matter. Then I asked him what his success rate was with knee PRPs and he said 'I can't answer that... because it depends upon how damaged the knee is'. I waited and he added that '65-70% showed some improvement'. I left very disappointed, discouraged and somewhat upset. I won't be going back.

Dr Petering was very thorough, and had a great rapport with my teenage son. He took the time to explain his diagnosis, and relayed it in a way that could be understood by all! We have seen many doctors at OHSU over the years, and I can honestly say that Dr Petering had the best patient-doctor skills I have seen there. Caring, attentive, and not your usual boring doctor-type! We highly recommend Dr Petering if you need a Sports Medicine doctor.
