Best OBGYN
Dr. Shields cared for me in my full pregnancy journey from pre-conception appointment to scheduled repeat c-section delivery. His kind and thoughtful demeanor was comforting, and I felt cared for holistically as a patient. When I had questions, he was knowledgeable about the latest scientific studies to give his recommendations. His expertise helped me to feel safe and confident during my pregnancy and c-section. He delivered my second son via scheduled repeat c-section and I also requested tubal ligation. Everything went smoothly and my recovery was even faster than with my first c-section delivery 5 years earlier. I highly recommend Dr. Shields because he is passionate about removing the stigma about taboo topics like periods and menopause. I felt comfortable asking any questions and he had well-informed answers based on the latest medical research. I’m grateful that his level of care is available in rural Kamuela, HI - I had a better experience than I did in San Francisco.

His empathy and compassion really stuck out to me. He’s very kind and never made me feel uncomfortable in any way. He’s probably the best OBGYN I’ve come across yet.

I’ve never felt uncomfortable or awkward, he’s really helpful and understanding. One of the better OBs I’ve had.
