Dr. Saleem Awan, MD

I found Dr. Awan to be arrogant, condescending, with no empathy. I suffer from a rare chronic pain condition called pudendal neuralgia. There are not a lot of pain mgmt. doctors in the U.S. who treat it. Dr. Awan quickly, got irritated when I asked him to repeat things. I didn't like him, but I didn’t have another option in Milwaukee. I scheduled a pudendal nerve block. The patient is on his/her stomach during the procedure facing the floor. They injections go into your bottom. It's an embarrassing, vulnerable position. I asked Dr. Awan to tell me before each injection. I was afraid of the pain. I asked many times, my face down. He never responded. I asked nurses if they would ask him to tell me what he was doing. One said the procedure “wasn’t a big deal and why would I need to know.” I never knew. I messaged his office for 2 months before pulsed radiofrequency treatment. They never answered questions. The day before staff sent the cost $16,000. I had to cancel.

Dr.Awan is by far an excellent doctor. His calm demeanor is comforting as discussions are held about pain management, possible surgery, medication, and timing. I highly recommend Dr. Awan.

Dr. Awan has proved to be a kind and gentle practitioner over several appointments, including multiple spine injections. He may be running late with appointments, but it is only because he gives you the time for discussion that you need.
