Very nice, but dismissive
I visited Dr. Chawla twice. I initially went in because prostate concerns (pain, pee issues, etc). He listened the first time and said it is likely posthitis. He was very nice and easy to talk to. I was like cool, but was surprised when there wasn't a physical exam. He prescribed some meds and we scheduled a follow up. On the follow up, he was much more distracted and wanted to prescribe more meds (as the issue had not left). Again, no exam or detailed questions about the issue. So, I decided that was my last visit and would seek a second caregiver.

Thank you Dr. Chawla
Dr. Chawla took over my care after I was admitted to the hospital with a severely enlarged prostate and bladder. He performed a TURP procedure, and the beneficial results were immediate. He clearly explained my options and described the expected outcomes so I could make an informed decision. Many thanks to Dr. Chawla for solving a problem that had been bothering me for years.

My experience with Dr. Chawla could not be better as I go through prostate cancer, and have recently undergone prostate removal. I'm three weeks past my surgery, and my recovery is going incredibly well, as I am quickly returning to my normal life. I attribute this to the surgical skills of Dr. Chawla.

I had lithotripsy last year and most everything went fine except I prepaid for my surgery but didn’t get have both stones blasted. Dr.Chawla seems like a good doctor but after my follow up I learned I had a cyst and a stone lodged in the same kidney but nothing was discussed as far as treatment. The staff at his office at WakeMed is clueless. They tried to charge me for a follow up. Before that I had wanted an appointment for this specific location and was supposed to get a notification when one was available but never heard anything. I called again and got an appointment for the next week. I’m still receiving bills for a prepaid surgery and it’s frustrating to say the least.

I have been seeing Dr. Chawla for the past several years since someone raved about him to me. There’s none better. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable but he has a real gift for explaining complex medical matters in a way that even a lunkhead like me can grasp clearly. He is always so pleasant, always listens very carefully and always goes out of his way to be helpful. I have the utmost respect for him and total trust in his abilities and judgement. And everyone on his team is superb, too.

Dr. Chawla recently diagnosed my prostate cancer and then performed a robotic prostatectomy. His skill and care were outstanding. He effectively removed all of the cancer and 3 days postoperatively I am doing extremely well. Dr. Chawla is a skilled and compassionate practitioner who gives great attention to detail. He goes the extra mile to assure all issues have been more than thoroughly addressed and does so with great compassion and attention to each patient's individual needs.

I was diagnosed with advanced prostrate cancer in Jan 2016, was advised that I needed to have it dealt with. I met with several experienced urologist and decided to go with Dr. Chawla. The course of treatment recommended was a robotic prostatectomy. Dr. Chawla did an excellent job, his experience and bed side manner was above approach. I'm in full recovery with 100% continence during the night and seeing great improvements during normal daily activities, sexual functions are now returning.

From the moment of referral Dr. Chawla committed he would be with me through the entire cancer treatment process. His explanations of alternative treatments were clear. I decided on robotic prostate removal. I am now almost 3 weeks post surgery and have regained most of my strength and have good hope additional functions will return as well. He allowed me time to make decisions on my own. Questions are answered quickly.

My first time to a urologist, I found myself with 2 large kidney stones. One 21mm, the other 6mm. Dr. Chawla is kind, professional, very approachable and took the time to explain things thoroughly. He is an expert in his field and had me feeling like a new person after laser uroscopy surgery. Excellent. Even my anesthesiologist said that's who he would go to for kidney surgery. Thank you, Dr. Chawla. You are my hero!

Had surgery last week for a 8cm Spermatocele. His bedside manner is comforting and informative. My niece recommended Dr. Chawla, as she was his surgical nurse for several years. He's knowledgeable, patient, caring and someone whom you can trust. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to any of my family members. He did a great job managing this behemoth cyst.

Dr Chawla is extremely knowledgeable, engaging, explained everything in detail. He made me feel at ease, and took the time without rushing me out of the office. What separates Doctor Chawla from many doctors is not only the commitment to patient care he has in providing a compelling experience to his patients, but also the amount of genuine compassion, kindness, empathy and moral support he and his entire staff provide.Dr. Chawla and team go above and beyond.
