Fantastic non-mesh inguinal hernia repair
I had great treatment for bilateral inguinal hernia in August 2024. First of all I did my research and found that the Shouldice method of hernia repair was the best for a non-mesh approach. Sbayi was trained at Shouldice hospital in Canada. As far as I can tell, he's the best in the US. I met him first via Zoom meeting online, since I am based in Denver. I flew out and he met with me the day before the surgery. He is patient and friendly, and answered all my questions. The hospital is clean and the staff are excellent. The surgery went well. I took an extra day to recover and then flew back. There is a 'healing ridge' that has since subsided. After two weeks I was lifting light weights, and by about five weeks I was back to my normal lifting and drop sets. I'm stronger now than I've ever been, and I don't have to worry about blowing out a hernia again. No more hernia belts, no more fears when coughing, no worries about a mesh causing problems later on. Thank you Dr. Samer Sbayi!

My double inguinal hernia surgery
I met with Dr Sbayi January 19 ,224 at the Glen Cove office. The office staff are all great especially Levonne . I was extremely nervous . They scheduled me for February 27 ,2024. The office also coordinated between my primary care Dr Gross and the hospital . Dr Sbayi did a clinical exam and explained to me the surgery and the recovery . I could see he knew exactly what was going to occur. I am in the medical field . He is the smartest man in the room .. Intake at Glen Cove is seamless. His staff are cross trained for preop and surgery . The hospital is neat , clean and new. The surgery went as planned his preop and post op discussion was exacting, accurate and honest. He gave me post op Rx and his personal cell # . Surgery was at 7:30am - home by 1:30 pm . Day 1 - soreness still anesthesia . Able to walk , slight discomfort . Day 2 slight pain Fast forward Day 5 went to dinner in Huntington last night , Today-45 minute power -walk jogged last block home . call him

True professional
I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with Dr Sbayi. I had a successful spigelian hernia repair a few weeks ago. From my initial consultation to the post-op follow up visit, Dr Sbayi was a true professional who treated me with the utmost respect. He was thorough in his explanation, in layman’s terms, of the procedure he was planning on performing. His calm bedside manner put me at ease during a nerve wracking time in my life. He also made himself available to answer any questions or concerns my family or I had regarding the surgery. I cannot recommend him enough!

Umbilical hernia
Dr. Sbayi is a very intelligent, compassionate, professional, courteous and respectful doctor. Dr. Sbayi explained everything in great details to my understanding about my surgery. Exceptional bed side matters. This doctor is an asset to the hospital. Very happy to have found him.

Excellent Surgeon
First off I do not understand the negative reviews, guess you can't please everyone. Dr. Sbayi performed umbilical hernia surgery on 8/26/22 at Stony Brook Hospital. He met me in pre-op and spent time from his busy schedule to sit and chat with me about what to expect. Very caring and precise in his explanation. Dr. Sbayi himself called my Wife after surgery and spent the time necessary to put her at ease. Should you require any surgeries within his areas of expertise you will not be disappointed.

Dr Sbayi has passed me off to his PA staff after a major intestinal blockage. I was operated on in July and i'm still not healed. I really would've thought that he'd take the time to explain to me why my incision is still bleeding so much. But then again he never took the time to explain the operation and recovery time to me. I am now back in StonyBrook hospital waiting to see one of his PA's. You'd think after all this time of not recovering well from this surgery that he'd make it a point to see me himself. I'm very disappointed , I think it's time to call in a different surgeon.

Excellent Doctor! I had an inguinal hernia laproscopic repair with mesh by a doctor at Stony Brook Southampton in 2018, big mistake. 8 months later the hernia was back. I began looking much more into the subject, I saw a doctor at Cornell Weill, a laproscopic expert at Mt. Sinai, and the first doctor. All of them wanted to repair it with additional mesh. I read that mesh can be associated with chronic pain. A friend told me about the Shouldice Hospital in Toronto, the world leader in no mesh repair which was exactly what I wanted at this point. I got on the list, I was preparing to go to Canada and then I found Dr Sbayi on Long Island at Stony Brook Medicine! I immediately made an appointment and I knew I had found the right doctor. Dr Sbayi was in another league from the rest, he spent a lot of time explaining the procedure and injury to me, surgery without mesh was 15 months ago, he was totally accessible during recovery period. I am pain free at 61, tennis, cycling, surfing again.

Dr. Sbayi took the time to greet me courteously and professionally. He listened and addressed all my concerns. He explained his procedures and possible risks extremely well. His office doesn't seem to overbook appointments because I was seen in a timely manner--5 minute wait, 10-15 minutes waits two other times. After surgery, I had a question and he returned my call within 30 minutes.
