Great bedside attitude
Dr. Chan at Kaiser and his MA Ms Clauson, were so professional and concerned about making me feel comfortable, minimizing the physical discomfort, and being thorough. They both took the time to answer all my questions. I hope they know how much their bedside manner was helpful to this patient.

Dr. Samuel Chan, an urologist at the Kaiser Permanente Roseville medical office probably is the most arrogant non-responsive urologist in my 36+ years of being a Kaiser Permanente patient. One email takes 12 hours+ to reply or no replies at all. Three emails in an urgency within an hour got back the next day saying he is confused, or not reading my emails at all! Prescription-wise, treating UTI is no relevant general-purpose antibiotics, not even a special prescription like Nitrofurantoxin, he doesn't care about your uncomfortableness or urgency of need of a treatment. No results from the blood tests to let you know as well. Bad! If you can avoid Dr. Samuel Chan, please to do so or get unnecessary insults.

Dr Chan saved my life 13 years ago by removing my kidney because I had developed renal cancer. He is straightforward, explains the procedures clearly, and is a no-nonsense kind of doctor-exactly who I want when it comes to an important surgery. He also offered a less invasive mode of removal, thereby allowing me a speedier and easier recovery. I am grateful to him for his work, and recommend him highly.

Dr. Chan and his Nurse Cora each deserve a 5+ star rating. It's too bad some folks are rating Dr. Chan low because of poor performace from his front staff - which I will agree needs improvement. Dr. Chan very knowledgeable, considerate, caring and very willing to listen to his patient (me). He is very upfront with diagnosis and options. After hearing horror stories from some of my friends with the same cancer, I will say Dr. Chan cares about his patients comfort during the tests and treatments.

I liked Dr. Chan, but his staff kept saying that they didn't get my *urgent* referral from my primary Dr., and sent me back to my primary Dr.'s staff (who in turn had faxed it over the first time but kept doing it again) a total of 5 times before I gave up & followed up days later to try to get my appt., taking 3 more telephone calls, which was and exhausting and unfair way to treat a sick patient. I changed my health plan group, primary care Dr. and never went back to Dr. Chan again!
