Best and through care
Thorough and took the necessary time us (the family) answering all our questions about our father while not rushing us and made sure we understood the necessary steps for the future

Great Compassionate Doctor – Sep 02, 2023

1 star is more than generous. Dr. Carpenter was my father's doctor at the Gadsden Medical Center when he went into hospice care. She was arrogant and pushy. She talked at us, not to us. Without ever stopping to listen to anything we had to say. My father had a DNR and wanted no extreme measures taken. Once the only option to keep him alive was through a feeding tube in his side. We chose not to do that. He was not conscious and unresponsive. We told her to take him off of oxygen, turn off his pacemaker, and make him comfortable with morphine. When we returned the next day, he was still on oxygen, and his pacemaker had not been turned off. We asked her again and she said she would. On the 3rd day his pacemaker was finally turned off. He died very shortly afterward. In my opinion, morphine or not, she made him suffer needlessly for 3 extra day. All the while blathering on about her religion and everything's in god's hands. Unprofessional, inappropriate, UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!

Dr. Carpenter just talked at us and did not listen when we were discussing my father's rapidly failing health. Per my father's wishes (in writing), we asked that he be placed into hospice care and that all extra measures be suspended, including the oxygen he was getting at the time. This was on a Friday afternoon. On Saturday, when we visited my father again, he was still on oxygen and the nurse on staff informed us that because my father's pacemaker was active they may not know he had passed until hours later. Dr. Carpenter never indicated his pacemaker could be deactivated remotely. We immediately requested the pacemaker be turned off. My father passed peacefully the next day. Dr. Carpenter was more concerned with what god wanted than what he and his family wanted. Her inability to listen made an already stressful time even more so.

My mother is 97. She fell 4 days ago (11/10/2020) and was trapped and immobilized for 10 hours before rescue. Mom was transported to Gadsden Regional and Dr. Carpenter took her case. Despite other reviews, I think Dr. Carpenter is very compassionate and IMHO she really cares for her patients. Dr. Carpenter is frank and honest. That is not for everyone, but I applaud it. Dr. Carpenter tells it like it is. She may not tell family what they want to hear, but they should listen because she only has her patient's best interests at heart. Dr. Carpenter is one of the few doctors I have encountered that is truly dedicated to what is best for her patients. I am truly thankful that my mother is in Dr. Carpenter's hands. I cannot give Doctor Carpenter enough accolades. I can only hope that when my time comes, there is a Dr. Carpenter there to care for me. P.S. Dr. Carpenter, if you read this I am forever in your debt. Dennis Eiland Born and raised in Gadsden, AL

Very thorough. She has been my dr. for almost 15 years. Doesn't have a problem with referring to another specialty. Very little waiting for appointments, in waiting room. Thorough with lab work. Am very satisfied with her as my doctor. She is blunt and straight to the point, so she may not be the doctor for you if you want her to slap a prescription in your hand and send you on your way!

left without any help. Worst bedside mannerism. Wouldn't even recommend to worst enemy. Worthless if she won't listen and treat you accordingly

refuses to adjust medication, has no compassion. Would not recommend, you will be wasting your time and money, she will not listen. Bt no means don't be confused from an infection and accidently write your old dose of medication which had to be raised while you were deathly. Very uncomfortable office. Any on call doctor for first care medical is as useless as first care medical. Dr carpenter would rather pawn you off to another doctor. She needs a different profession
