St. Joseph’s Visit - Feb 2024 for IIH
I've been reflecting on my experience with Dr. Sahoo and finally put my thoughts into words. I was admitted to the hospital due to swelling of my optic nerves, and my ophthalmologist arranged for further tests to understand the issue. I was eventually diagnosed with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). However, I can't forget how Dr. Sahoo and his staff treated me. When I first met him on my second day in the hospital, he agreed to the tests but told me to eat only one meal a day to lose weight, despite there being no direct correlation between IIH and weight gain. On my second meeting with him, he ordered a blood patch after my spinal puncture, and that was the last time I saw him. He never followed up on the procedure or asked about my well-being. I felt like a nuisance under his care. I later found out that booking a follow up with him with him is chaos, as the staff never know when his next month’s booking would open. He is very knowledgeable, but lacks humility.

Sanjiv K. Sahoo. I have never in my life felt such a lack of caring or intent determine what I am felling. I have had weakness in my left side and reduce feeling ever since my incident. The Dr. had a complete disregard for my symptoms. Insisted I walk without the use of a walker and when I attempted to step with my left leg and used my right leg to catch myself the Dr. insisted it was all in my head. That there was absolutely nothing wrong with me and that I need a physiatrist for mental help. I’ve never felt so helpless feeling someone didn’t care about my well-being like I was some sort of dog. If he doesn’t know what’s wrong he should have found someone who did not call me a liar. If you want to be helped properly to determine what you have do not by any means seek help from this doctor. If he cannot determine what is wrong. He will not want to help and insist you are making it up. Absolutely terrible service. This is not a “professional” that wants to help his patients.

The experiece with this doctor and his assistant was extremely dissatisfying. It is clearly evident that my c-spine is abnormal. I have had several mri's of my c-spine, and I am quite sure it gets worse instead of better. This doctor doesn't know a thing, or he just doesn't want to get his hands dirty. Furthermore, I am in so much pain, but was told that I couldn't be seen until August!! I will not be seeinig this doctor again, and I will seek a neurologist or another provider outside of Baycare.

I was a new patient referred to him due to a serious concussion. Dr.Sahoo took time to listen to my concerns and explained the procedures he recommended.. I thought his office staff was professional and friendly. Since my handwriting has been impacted I also appreciated their digital check in system.
