Dr. Sara Kulangara, MD

Dr Kulangra called me after an in office visit to follow up on some labs. The Dr. wanted to revisit my meds and family history to recommend a change in one of my prescriptions. I have rarely received a call from my doctors that I didn’t request. That’s why I named this review as Above and Beyond.

Very good. Attentive and receptive. Already have a cardiologist but may switch. Cardiologist--yes----- but is she also a PCP???

I highly recommend Dr. Kulangara because she is caring, knowledgeable, personable, listens, and has been an effective partner in making me the healthiest I have ever been in my 71 years. During my annual visit on 12 Dec 22, Dr. Kulangara gave me some outstanding advice to cure a bad habit I slipped into, and which I am now rectifying. Normally our annual visits are uneventful because five years ago, she successfully advised me how to lose weight, eat healthy, and encouraged my exercise program. These measures cured my sleep apnea, allowed me to stop taking blood pressure meds, raised my HDLs to the high 50s, and lowered my LDLs to the low 60s. To quote my new PCP who I saw in November-- "She saved your life." Verily!!!

I discovered Dr. Kulangara through my brother. By taking him to see her on his many visits, I got to know her both as a doctor and as a person. Besides being an excellent doctor, Dr. Kulangara is kind and patient. She takes the time to get to know you, and never rushes you through any question or concern.

Dr Kulangara is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and interested in me. She has a good bedside manner. She discusses treatments with me before making any changes.

While she was 45 minutes late for my appointment last year, I was told I would have to reschedule after running 15 minutes late this year. I was stuck in traffic for 90 minutes and called ahead. The woman wearing a head scarf at the front desk was rude, I literally burst into tears because of her and I'm not someone who cries often. Definitely looking for a new cardiologist now.
