Rude, too rushed to care
I came in for my second appointment 6 months after my first because my conditions got worse and I requested bloodwork to see if it showed anything. My first appointment with him was great , but this time he was rude, acting like I was wasting his time. I told him all my symptoms, and the effect it’s been having on me, and he literally said” I don’t have time for this” . Requested bloodwork, and told me to go somewhere else. Turns out I was vitamin deficient and anemic

Not a good choice
I met this Dr. to establish a new medical care provider as I just moved to this state. He was rude, inattentive and very judgmental, or condescending. He started our conversation by cross examining why I would move to this state without verifying the availability of doctors accepting new patients and the obvious long wait time involved. He often interrupted my answering his generic questions, causing me frustration and almost anger. He acted the whole time we met like he was doing me a favor. I was very disappointed and frankly shocked by his attitude. His medical assistant and the facility as a whole was wonderful. He does not belong there in my opinion.

He's very judgy. He doesn't listen well and is not a good communicator. He doesn't check or respond to his emails in a timely manner. He doesn't have a lot of expertise and discounts the information I've presented him with when I've done my research. I'm definitely not impressed. Compared to my former nurse practitioner, he's a complete disappointment.

Oddly, Dr. Balson repeatedly explained that people should not move to Northwest Washington until they have researched medical care options. He carefully, but persistently pushed me to seek a Rheumatologist in a place like Portland or Spokane. In fact, he suggested I move there. I’m switching to another doctor.

I've been a patient of Dr. Balson's for about four years. I'm always impressed at how prepared he is for my appointments, and that he even comes with a list of things he knows he'd like to cover with me. The appointments never feel rushed, he is good at explaining treatments, and he refers to specialists when needed. I'm glad he's my physician, and highly recommend him!

Dr. Balson listened to my problems, and took seriously what I was telling him. I found that very refreshing. He facilitated me seeing the doctors I needed to to get the care I need. Beyond that he has also gotten to know me and my preferences for care. He and his staff are welcoming, positive and efficient. Thank you

He never looked at me, just looked at his computer and typed. He seemed uninterested in anything that wasn't on his script. He commented on my body in an unexpected way. A bit preachy and ordinary.
