Dr. Scott Smilen, MD

Every single person I encountered at the Neptune office was amazing. From the person who scheduled my appointment, to the receptionist, the nurses, the surgical scheduling personnel, all were empathetic, caring, and did their jobs very well. I was brought back to the examining room almost immediately and seen quickly. The doctor took his time to explain what my issue was and gave me the pros and cons of each option to resolve. I felt confident in his guidance and was very pleased with the full experience of this office and staff. I would highly recommend.

Excellent, the only urologist who could help me with my UTIs and I've had many doctors fail where he didn't. The problem is I cannot find out where he is practicing now because he is longer affiliated with the urology group he worked with??? Dr. Smilen came to NJ once a week and helped patients here. If anyone knows where he will be practicing next, please email me, I'm desperate for his expertise in UTIs. Thank You

When we were less that an hour from his office, my wife received a call from his secretary saying they had to cancel the appointment because they forgot to order the injection needle that was required for the procedure. Bottom line is that Dr. Smilen doesn't care! If you're reading this review, I implore you to find another doctor. He may be a skilled doctor, but his character is clearly lacking, and that should be just as important to you when searching for a doctor.

I had an appointment with Dr. Smilen. He has good bedside manners, pleasant friendly. Explained everything to me and answered all my questions. Yes, I would recommend him.

I had an appointment with Dr. smilen today and I was so nervous he was the nicest doctor and made me feel so comfortable.

Dr. Smilen is one of my favorite doctors -- not only because he's incredibly nice and thorough and unrushed, but also because he really worked with me, surgically and medically, when other UroGYNS had been reluctant to operate due to my young age. I've had two prolapse-repair surgeries with him; both have left me with minimal discomfort and enormous improvements to my quality of life. Staff is lovely and very competent, office is clean, wait is usually 15-20 minutes.

Dr. Smilen was pleasant,courteous,and thorough.He addressed my concerns and answered all my questions.The pelvic exam was not painful.

I should've paid attention to that one star rating below but instead I ignored it and went to Dr.Smilen for a routine check up...For starters my wait was ridiculous for and NYU practice(literally had to ask the nurse if I would be seen soon). Once I did see Dr.Smilen it was literally for 20 minutes(I was in the office for almost two hours) it was the most painful/uncomfortable and rushed Pap smear and breast exam I've ever had!

My visit with Dr. Smilen stands out as my least satisfying gynecological visit ever. First, the examination was the only painful one I have ever had in "that area," due to the fact that he just shoved the instruments in, seeming not to care about my comfort. Secondly, he was accompanied by a younger male doctor (or med student?) whom he was instructing, and within earshot of me, described my anatomy in unflattering terms as an example of what happens when a woman ages. Insensitive.

He has an excellent bed-side manner. I knew as soon as he walked into the exam room that I would like him because he had a nice smile on his face. He is a good listener, and I am sure, an excellent diagnostician. I thoroughly trust him. The office staff is very friendly. The person who makes appointments is, too.

Today is my first visit with Dr. Smilen. I was so grateful for his attention, patience, diligence, and thoroughness. His nurse Susan was just as amazing and made all attempts to make me comfortable. This is the first time I was taken care of in a manner that I am not accustomed to with many necessary procedures being completed during my appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Scott Smilen for your medical care.

Dr Smilen is an excellent doctor. He makes you feel at easy and explains everything to you. He also takes his time listening to what you have to say, and that's very important. I cant say enough good things about this doctor... 5 star Plus.....:-)
