He helped me with a condition that had been causing discomfort for some time. He and his staff were very considerate, explained things well and I felt very cared for. I am grateful to have such good care in this area. Love Dr. Steinmetz.

Would not recommend Dr Steinmetz. Everything is a joke to him, he’s very unprofessional, and was rude to his own staff.

We would never recommend Dr. Steinmetz to anyone. We had a very poor experience with him. He did not repair my husbands very prominent hernia. Made an incision, corrected nothing. Went to Dr. Jeffrey Ferris at Franklin Square. After 3 hour surgery the hernia was repaired correctly. If we had reviewed his record up front, would not have used him at all.

I'd give no stars, zero. Everything is a joke to him. A woman needing breast surgery isn't a laughing matter. In doctor/patient conversations he constantly interrupts, gets very excitable and as another commenter said he's condescending and dismissive. My advice is to leave him to his God complex and seek another doctor.

Dr Steinmetz performed hernia surgery for my husband. From the first time we met with Dr. Steinmetz and through the surgery and recovery, he was there explaining everything we needed to know and answered all our questions. He has a great bedside manor and is funny and knowledgeable! A friend had a gall bladder removal by Dr. Steinmetz a couple years ago, and she would recommend him. Very pleasant experience!

If you are looking for a doctor to do what needs to be done then I guess he is it. If you are looking for a doctor to take his time with you and help you understand what is wrong, then he is not the doctor for you. He is very condescending. Made fun of the fact that I had to go to the ER twice before having my surgery with him. Two weeks after surgery and still having discomfort he pretty much told me to go see another doctor.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Steinmetz. In May I needed emergency surgery due to a perforated colon, resulting in a colostomy. He saved my life. In August he performed a reversal, that has been about six weeks ago, and everything is going GREAT. I was released from his care yesterday and pretty much back to total normalcy. I have total trust and confidence in Dr. Steinmetz, and highly recommend him. He has a wonderful beside manner and a good repor with his hospital staff.

He has been taking care of my Mom since he performed surgery on 10 August. Dr. Steinmetz expertise and professionalism carries over joining his personal and caring bed side ethics. He is a modern day doctor with old school ~ caring ideals; direct and open to any questions/concerns ~ just ask. I thank him and as he said to me (Mom still in ICU and it is now 17 Aug) "You only get one Mom and if you don't get your answers then call me and I will get them for you".

Dr. Steinmetz was patient, confident, and did a fantastic job on my husband's bowel resection. He was very patient answering questions and made us both feel at ease. He was funny and light, but took my husband's pain and condition very seriously. We were very lucky that he was on call when my husband needed surgery.
