Doctor Um did a Gastric Bypass on me and now I am living a very happy and healthy lifestyle. He answers all of your questions and concerns and will guide you through the whole process. I know bariatric surgery is scary, but if Doctor Um is your surgeon, I promise you will be more than okay. Doctor Um and the whole bariatric team at West LA gave me my life back, thank you for everything Doctor Um, seriously… THANK YOU!!

Dr Um does not represent Kaiser in a positive light as I voiced some after surgery concerns and he brushed it over and had an attitude with me as if he thought that I was insulting his medical skill by voicing my concern. I mentioned that I did not feel cared for as a patient by him and he called me “overly sensitive”. Something that I’ve noticed in other comments was that the appointment felt rushed, and I can definitely agree. Before the surgery, I had spoken to him over the phone for a total of 3 minutes and felt rushed off.

I was assigned to Dr Um by Kaiser, I was a bit sceptical because I only spoke with Dr Um over the phone, I did not see him in person until the day of the surgery. During our calls he did answer all of my concerns. He is not the chatty type which is fine with me. I qualified to get the sleeve surgery on 2/23/23. I did not have any major complications. Dr. Um did a great job. I am happy with my results. I do recommend Dr. Um. The only I can advise is beware of the constipation. yikes!!!

I am so grateful for Dr. Um and the West LA Kaiser team. He is a caring doctor and made the process smooth. His confidence in my ability to do the work really motivated me because for the 1st time, I didnt feel judged. He is a leader in what he does! The Kaiser team was kind and supportive. They have lots of resources too!

Dr Um is truly an amazing Dr. I was suffering for 5 years after a lapband removal that eroded in my stomach (done by Beverly hill) I could not eat without having pain, it was awful 5 years. I went to several specialist and lots of different testings they could not figure it out. Dr Um was confident in what he was doing. He found a fistula in my stomach along with thick scar tissue and took care of it I am now able to lead a normal life. No more pain and suffering, He is truly amazing!

Dr. Scott Um is a very intense Surgeon. His mission is to make you feel comfortable and at ease about your pending situation. He is very thorough and he listens to your concerns. He answers all of your questions straight forward. I was so Bless to have him as my Surgeon, and this was my third time attempting this journey. I must say if it would have been another Surgeon, I probably still would not have went through the surgery! Thanks Dr. Um!!!!

I had my surgery 3/9/2017 Dr. Um and his staff was just amazing. They made me feel comfortable and help me get through my nervousness by keeping me informed about everything that was going on. My surgery was a success I want to thank Dr. Um and his staff.

Dr. Um is an amazing doctor who cares for all of his patients and his staff is also wonderful. He gave me back my life. I really do feel like he gave me a second chance in life with grace and mercy.
