Excellent foot surgeon
After a failed neuroma surgery with another, highly qualified surgeon, Dr. Peden thought he could help, using a different approach. I found him to be a respectful, careful listener and his approach was thoughtful. I am two months post-surgery and things are going well. I have recommended Dr. Peden to several friends.

Exceptional care and expertise.
An unlucky fall while walking my dog led me to Dr. Peden. From the moment I met him, I knew I was in capable hands. His reassuring demeanor and genuine care immediately put me at ease, alleviating my (quite high level) of anxiety, stress, and frustration.Throughout the entire process, from the initial consultation to surgery to my follow-up appointments, Dr. Peden has exhibited an impeccable balance of proficiency and compassion. His surgical skills are truly exceptional, evident in the positive outcome I experienced. What truly sets Dr. Peden apart is his genuine concern for his patients' well-being. His caring manner extends beyond the operating room and spills over to his entire team, providing support and guidance to me as I navigate my recovery process.Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Peden -- in fact I did so several times today as I knee-scootered around my local park!

Not an alarmist. Doesn't rush to surgical fix.
Dr. Peden listens well and allows time for questions and answers. I appreciated the fact that he didn't suggest surgery on my ankle right out of the gate. He actually spoke more about the reasons to avoid surgery which was refreshing. I feel that he is with me for the long haul and he articulated as much.

Nerve Damage & More Surgery
Peroneal tendon repair by Dr Peden in 2021 left me with permanent damage to sural and peroneal nerves. Local doc told he’s seen this damage before from his surgery. No other CT docs would work on me. I had to see a peripheral nerve surgeon out of state to fix the damage, and another ankle surgeon in MD to clean up what got missed the first time. Would not recommend this surgeon.

Thorough and responsive - just what I needed!
I had both an ongoing ankle condition (chronic ankle instability) as well as a recent acute injury (a lateral and a high ankle sprain at same time). After meeting with two other physicians - one also a foot/ankle orthopedist, the other a podiatric surgeon - it was clear that Dr. Peden weaves together years of expertise + up-to-date knowledge in how he approaches foot/ankle conditions. He always took the time to respond to my questions, explained complex procedures clearly, and was attentive to time-sensitive needs. He emphasized that what I do post-op is just as important as what he does in the operating room. I got a modified brostrom repair with a suture tape augmentation a few months ago. I took his advice for recovery guidelines (I have been doing PT regularly, etc.) and my recovery has been excellent! I'd recommend Dr. Peden in a heartbeat to everyone! While he's the professor (at Yale Medicine) if I had to give him a grade it would be an A+

Bunion surgery right foot
I had my surgery on February 23rd, 2018. He left a pin inside the big toe; I asked if it was necessary because my left foot had been done in 2010 by another doctor and he didn’t leave anything inside. Dr. Peden told me that it was the way to do that procedure. About 2 years ago, the right thumb started pointing outwards, it was at that time something that didn’t look pleasant, but recently the toe has been bothering me. It is becoming uncomfortable, and I’m afraid that I might need another surgery to correct that.

Ankle Surgery
I saw Dr Peden after seeing several other specialists with ongoing ankle pain. He listened well, helped me understand my options, and explained each step of the process up to and including my surgery, making sure I understood all details of the treatment plan. He worked with me to meet my scheduling needs as a college student. My surgery and recovery went very smoothly, and Dr Peden was there to answer any questions along the way. Highly recommend!!

I suffered a Lis Franc injury, which is basically a very serious injury to the top of the foot. Dr Peden was so knowledge, efficient and positive about my prognosis. I had surgery with a long recovery - I cried every time I saw Dr Peden - it hurt so much. He was very nice and always made me feel re-assured. My foot feels great today and I feel very lucky to have had such an amazing doctor... Thanks Dr Peden!!!

Broken tibia and fibula surgery
I broke my tibia and fibula in the evening and left a message for Dr. Peden that night. Early the next morning he called me (not his assistant, it was actually him) and we made an appointment for an office visit. We scheduled surgery and he repaired my ankle. I healed nicely. I am currently about 8 months post op and doing well. He took time to discuss everything with me at my follow up appointments and never rushed. He cares about my well being and his office staff were exceptional. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Peden is great. Very knowledgeable, personable, helpful, and an awesome surgeon. I saw him for a spiral fractured fibula with ligament damage and he got me into surgery the next day. I had the opposite experience as the girl below me, as Dr. Peden made himself very available even after I was done with PT. I saw him about nerve issues (a result of the injury not the surgery) months after surgery and he was very helpful. He always encouraged me to call about any questions or concerns.

I had a complete rupture of my achilles from playing basketball. I saw Dr. Peden on a Friday and he quickly diagnosed the rupture, reviewed my imagining, and talked me through my treatment options. Given my age and desire to return to athletics, surgery was the best option. Dr. Peden then was able to fit me into his surgical schedule and performed the repair the following tuesday before he went out on vacation so that I could start my recovery process sooner. Dr. Peden's recovery protocols are advanced and follow the latest science to get you back to function faster. My physical therapists were impressed and commented that my progress went faster than other similar patients as a result. I followed the protocols diligently and by 3 months I was walking with ease and began running at 4 months. I'm now 6 months out and at 95% function, running 3-4 miles with ease. I highly recommend you choose Dr. Peden for your foot and ankle needs. He's the best at what he does!

Presents himself as being knowledgeable, but it was clear that after the surgery he washes his hands of any post surgery outcomes. The results of the surgery left me with permanent nerve damage to my foot and all he said to me was "oh well, it happens". No care to make things better, no care to refer me to other doctors for the proper care that I needed. It was clear he just wanted to be paid and that he forgot he had a moral responsibility to his patients. I should have known he was the wrong "dr" to perform my surgery as during my consultation he said "I can't guarantee you will be wearing Manolo shoes" - I'm a Birkinstock gal, I responded. We have better doctors in CT - folks do your research first! My regret is that I didn't sue him for malpractice.

Dr. Peden is a master of his craft and I had a fantastic surgical experience including the consultation before and the follow up. He took time to carefully review the surgical plan and explain everything and answer all of my questions. He also indulged my curiosity with my x-rays and set clear expectations for my recovery journey. I highly recommend him and his team.
